Declined Remove MLP subforum

I suggest that we remove the MLP subforum.

It was created largely due to the influx of pony related media that flooded General and other parts of Skial. When MLP was at it's peak popularity it did a great job of keeping that material separate from the main threads. Now, it's inactive and barely anyone posts anything there anymore.

Most of the users who liked the children's show have left or are less active and the people left, overall, HATE My Little Pony. So it doesn't have a use anymore and no one wants it anymore. I prepose we remove it and/or change it to something else. Like "movies", "music" or "media".

From what I've come to understand so far, the typical brony is all about "love and friendship" and "tolerating the fuck out of brony haters", yet faps to MLP hentai.
 
I say to just leave it. The people who are against make a big deal out of this more than it is. Hell whenever a new pony thread does happen a bunch of people flock to it and rant on their hate on bronies. If it bothers you that godamn much then ignore it. All I see is a bunch of people with a superiority complex.

I don't care if I'm echoing sentiments made in the 4 pages, I haven't bothered to read them, but it's simple...you and a few others like you have such a ridiculous intense hatred of people who enjoy a fucking television show it's close to bigotry. I am the furthest thing from a brony, and I think most people only pretend to like the show to piss off people like yourself - but even so if they want to enjoy the show they should be able to.

You suggesting removing the forum that contains all that you hate is similar to me suggesting going in and freeing all the jailed...if it's contained why uncontain it? And why is pony spamming any more or less obnoxious than spiderman pictures?

Live and let live, and let them keep their forum so we can live without the incessant whining that will surely follow when they start posting it in general.

I read the first page which has most of your thoughts.

Bigotry is the state of mind of a bigot, defined by Merriam-Webster as "a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially: one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance"

Why is it a big deal they enjoy the show, and why are you on a one man and/or lady crusade to take a subforum that contains all of these things you hate? There are a lot less active ones on the forum why not crusade against those?

Here's the key phrase here.
as a racial or ethnic group

MLP are neither. By that argument, people who hate megaman are megaman bigots, people who hate Assassin's creed are Assassin's Creed bigots. Bigot tends to be race or ethnic based. I don't really want to argue over a dictionary def tonight, tbh. I don't want the argument to derail into something completely irrelevant.

I don't CARE if someone likes the show. Will I judge them? Yes. If it doesn't come into a place I visit, I don't care. But it's useless in Skial now, since no one uses it and it could be a more productive space.

Actually you're wrong on this one, I don't want to argue semantics but it says ESPECIALLY not ONLY it can apply to just about any blanket hatred. I also didn't come out and say you were a bigot, I said your hatred of them is ranging on bigotry.

If it doesn't come into a place you visit you say you don't care - but when you remove their subforum regardless of how inactive it currently is, it will need to be posted anywhere...I would think if anything you'd want to keep all the pony related stuff locked in that forum instead of another added subforum that you may accidentally stumble upon. And as I said in my previous post, there are other less active subforums that should be axxed before one that is about a topic that is so polarizing for all involved.

and just to add one more point about how bigotry goes deeper than ethnic or religious group, I consider those who hate homosexuals bigots - I don't feel I'm wrong on that and they don't fall into either category.

I've already stated the exact reasons earlier in this post. Arguing about your personal definition of bigotry is irrelevant and derailing.

It is relevant considering you called the definition into question and were quite incorrect. If you've stated the exact reason I've still missed it, and I went back and read every post, your argument is it's dead, but at the same point you hate it being shoved in your face..so it makes no logical sense to me why you want it removed and shoved in your face in another forum.

I also said there are forums that see lesser use that should be deleted before such a polarizing one which you also ignored. You are choosing only to address my wording that you feel is incorrect (it isn't.) while ignoring the questions I raise then calling said wording argument irrelevant - you really aren't making much sense to me.

Also felt I needed to elaborate, the anime subforum for instance has 5 less threads, and 400 less posts..and people posting about DBZ or whatever it is people watch these days isn't nearly as offensive to others as my little pony..if you feel the need to get rid of a forum I'd think you'd choose the less active, less controversial one.
 
The amount of ass this thread is now is horrible. Just fucking remove anything to do with mlp here now. People can go fap to pony porn somewhere else.
 
idk you guys seem to have the assumption that all bronies have mlp as a lifestyle and not a hobby, and that they are somehow all male creepers who fap to pony porn
i am teen female who doesnt fap to pony porn and it's a hobby for me i think people need to calm down and let this issue die out

like someone said earlier no one was even thinking about this until this topic was brought up : /

The problem is, is that you're spreading this shit EVERYWHERE. and I mean EVERYWHERE. I'm fucking sick of seeing it, along with millions of other people. I cant even play a decent game of tf2 without seeing a fucking pony spray. I shake my head in dissapointment every time. EVERY. TIME. Okay, fine, you can be weird and forever alone and like a little girls show, but you dont need to be making absolutely everything into a pony reference.

Since it's so difficult for you to read, I'll state it here. It was agreed that a media forum would replace the MLP forum inorder to bring more activity to the area. It was agreed MLP should not be given special treatment because they were popular for a few months,as well as people had a dislike to MLP. It should be removed since no one but two people like it here and the space could be use for more productive things. More people hate MLP on Skial than like it. WHY would you keep a subsection that no one likes? YES there are places that are less active, YES those places should be made into something more productive, is this post about those places? NO. This is about MLP and removing it since it's not popular anymore. I do agree those places need to be mixed around, but that's not the issue at the moment. Make a thread if that's so important to you.

And since you're going to derail more, you forgot to include this in your cute little definition of bigotry.
Bigotry may be based on real or perceived characteristics, including age, disability, deconomic status,ethnicity, gender identity, language, nationality, political alignment, race, region, religious or spiritual belief, sex, or sexual orientation. Ain't seeing any ponies, kid shows, megamen or Assassin's in here.
