Well, compared to other Pokemon games it's hard. But that's still not saying much.
I feel it's been made much easier, tbh

"Here's a tool to call pokemon that makes you run faster and use basically rock smash"
"Here's a tool to call a surfing pokemon so you don't have to keep one water pokemon with you at all time"
"Here's a tool to call a flying pokemon so you don't need to have any flying pokemon on your team"

Don't know where to go? Check the map for the exact location and don't forget your talking pokedex haunted by an annoying ass Rotom

I dunno, it just feels like so much less of a challenge than the previous ones. The only thing a bit more challenging is how wild pokemon can call others to their aid, but other than that, meh

Navigating wasn't hard in the other games either so I don't really count that when talking difficulty of the game, but I see where you're coming from.
Well, compared to Gen 6 lol
X/Y made me sick with how easy it was. At least it gave us some cool Pokemon and a fun region to run through. Difficulty and shitty post-game ruined it though.

Holy crap, trying to catch a fletchling with an adamant nature and I've got 12 in a row that are jolly, there must be pot or some shit growing on this mountain. Fuck it, sticking jolly.

EDIT: Actually, wtf am I thinking? I'll run the offensive swords dance talonflame

Can someone TL;DR explain why natures are so important?
They boost one stat and decrease another.
Most pokemon specialize in one kind of attack.
Therefore boosting a stat and decreasing the atk stat that doesnt matter (or speed in some special cases) is basically a free stat increase that makes a significant difference in the meta.

  • Neutral natures provide no benefit, so hardly anyone uses them. There could be a niche in there for certain balanced Pokémon in-game, but most comp 'mons are specialists so there's no real benefit.
  • Adamant is used on physical attackers since it boosts damage. Jolly is also very common, boosting speed instead. Both lower special attack, which physical attackers don't use. On Trick Room teams and other strategies where low speed is a benefit or doesn't matter, Brave (+Atk, -Spe) is used.
  • Modest (+SpA) and Timid (+Spe) are the counterparts to Adamant and Jolly, lowering attack whilst boosting these stats. Quiet is the counterpart to Brave (+SpA, -Spe).
  • Mixed attackers use a defense-lowering nature so one attack stat isn't gimped, usually boosting the main or higher attack stat whilst lowering the defense stat that matters least. This list includes Lonely and Naughty for physical attackers, and Mild and Rash for special ones. A speed raising nature that lowers defenses is sometimes also used; these are Hasty and Naive.
  • Defensive or otherwise bulky Pokémon tend to use a defense-raising nature that lowers the offensive stat they don't use. These are Impish and Careful, which lower special attack in exchange for Def/SpD, and Bold and Calm, which lower attack for Def/SpD. A nature that lowers speed may also be used, especially since most defensive Pokémon are slow but also for Trick Room teams; these are Relaxed for physically defensive ones and Sassy for specially defensive ones.
  • Lax and Gentle are shit and should never be used.

Damn, I knew most players went for specific ones like adamant but I didn't know it was that important, pretty cool!

Really important and super easy. Plus a lot of Pokémon have different move sets for different natures. If you don't already know, check out www.smogon.com they have every popular move set for every Pokémon, including recommended natures and hold items.

Everyone's explained it well but charts like the one Courtney posted are the bain to my existence, here's a basic one:
http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Nature#List_of_Natures

Hardy, serious, bashful and quirky are useless. Generally, people go for an adamant or modest nature or attackers or sp. attackers (adamant for the former, modest for the latter) or Relaxed / Sassy for walls.

How is that chart even remotely simpler than mine

Welp already got to the elite 4

Quick questions, do the Poke-bean colors have any different effect when you feed them to your Pokemon?
