Almost everything that runs on Windows 7 or 8 will run on Windows 10. 16-bit applications will not run.

If some application requires an old driver to run it may not work. But I have yet to have anything not work yet.Windows 10 also detects if an application needs to be run in compatibility mode and runs it in that mode if it needs to.

Its still too early to tell if it is worth getting, but so far I like it.

Your encryption key is automatically backed up to your OneDrive, you can't disable that at all. Once you have hard drive encryption enabled, it will automatically be backed up to the Cloud. Sure it's more convenient, but it pretty much nullifies the entire point of having your HDD encrypted. lol
Seems weird how it can back it up to your OneDrive after logging out of it/completely closing it. I wish you could just uninstall it all together like in 8 and 7.

Actually yeah you do, you HAVE to have a Microsoft account to even use your computer.
Technically you do, but you don't actually have to use the account to say, login to your computer. I disabled most features of the Microsoft account and switched it so that I could login with my normal password, which Windows classifies as a "Local Password."

So I can't use features like Cortana or OneDrive without switching to my Microsoft account (which is fine by me), but basically everything else works fine.

I'd say that my favorite thing so far about Windows 10 is the space I gained back from installing it from 8.1. I had something like 12gb free when I started the install (on my very small 80gb SSD), and after I had 30gb free. That's huge for me, I can throw TF2 plus all my Adobe programs on it now with no worries. It's also a lot snappier for me, although I do have a slowdown on loading all my icons in the taskbar when first booting, it takes about 5 seconds after I login to see them all, whereas before it was instant. Only 1 of my drivers, unfortunately my network card, had to be rolled back to an older version because the newer was incompatible, but I didn't need internet to do so, lucky me.
I've become quite addicted to rocket league recently, and I can safely say that I am getting at least 10fps better in windows 10 on the new windows 10 amd drivers, which is also nice.

I really like it.

I could care less for OneDrive and Cortana.

Yeah those drivers improved fps for a lot of people on Nvidia and AMD. I know I've seen the reason for it somewhere but I can't remember why. ;c

Cortana is neat, but as always it's just way too late by Microsoft. There's already Siri and Google Now, and Cortana doesn't have anything special to set it apart
Though one thing I wish they made easier was the goddamn fucking password login. It's ridiculous that they still haven't made it easy to disable pin/password login for W10, it's such a pain in 8.1 unless you switch to a local account.

I tried clicking the "Reserve" button but absolutely nothing happened. I got the feedback that it clicked, but nothing popped up or changed. My little windows 10 notification (bottom right) also disappeared today for no apparent reason. Is this supposed to happen?

So far I'm loving Windows 10, but my favorite feature is Cortana. Why? Well...you can ask her to sing you a song and she'll sing you different songs.

Welp, found another glitch.
Goddamn Surface keyboard cover cannot type. I can use the function settings, like F5 to raise screen luminosity, but I cannot type at all :(

Nevermind, it automatically installed an update and now it works. Well done, Microsoft.

So I keep getting failed attempts at getting this. I even tried forcing the update from the forums they recommend to get advice. Any help would be appreciated.

Windows Update doesn't even show the Windows 10 reserved icon anymore, and I've tried their Fix-It program, and that's not helping, any ideas? deleting that one folder doesn't work, enither does wuauclt.exe/updatenow, and the Windows 10 app hasn't changed for over a month.

Can you be me detailed? Also
If you don’t see the Get Windows 10 app (the small Windows icon in your system tray), it might be because:

  1. Your device isn’t up-to-date with at least Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 Update
  2. Windows Update is turned off or is not set to received updates automatically

  3. You’ve blocked or uninstalled the necessary Windows Update functionality.

  4. Your device is not running genuine Windows

  5. Your device is running Windows 7 Enterprise, Windows 8/8.1 Enterprise, or Windows RT/RT 8.1, which are excluded from this reservation offer.

  6. Your device is managed as part of a school or business network. (Check with your IT administrator.)

  7. PCs that we determine cannot run Windows 10 will not see the Get Windows 10 app before July 29th. After July 29th, we’ll enable the icon in the system tray. This is to help ensure that you can easily check your PC’s compatibility if you choose.

If none of that applies to you, just use the link pyscho posted to download windows 10

only complaint would be that the start menu takes a half second to open, but other than that i haven't noticed anything negative
My start menu opens instantly
