It is only from a few people hawking their own communities. See how many of them were quick to suggest their own servers.
There's a reason why we are the most popular community in terms of players. The Reddit servers are from random people renting from a GSP and wily enough to use Reddit to boost themselves into success.

Look, I'm not here to debate who has the better community, I'm hear to play TF2. I'd prefer to play TF2 on Skial, if that's not a possibility, then that's something I'll have to deal with.

Perhaps a poor choice of words, as frustrating a process as this is, I'm sure any one of you could understand venting to a sympathetic crowd. I merely mean to say that I believe a 2 week ban is rough for someone who didn't break the rules.
But you cant say that for certain, you yourself knows what happened, but as a majority we don't know for certain if you hacked or not. It's your word versus an admin of our servers so 2 weeks sounds fair to me.
though i understand venting anger, i don't understand why you had to go to a different community saying stuff like this: Apparently I was banned by RisenDemon, who has all Skial players in line to kiss his feet. Overturn seems quite unlikely at this point.

At that point, nobody would engage me in a reasonable manner, I was irritated, and shared my experience with Reddit.
Your the one who needs to get his head out of his ass, your playing bias on a 2 sided story, if anything your 2 cents just made things worse for your "friend" So good job.
If you don't like us, why did you just spend time creating an account on a community that you don't like, just to respond in this specific thread?

Well, I created an account just for this, so here goes:
I am pretty sure he wasn't speedhacking, and I think sure I know what happened. I can't confirm anything 100% though, because I'm not an expert on this topic, but I do know enough to give my reasoning on this.
As stated, he has a crappy internet connection. What probably happened was it was so slow, it didn't send packets as constantly as needed to maintain a regular appearance. This meant he would walk forward, and the game would know that, but it might not have sent information to the server, so he stops momentarily. Then, when his client does send information again, it updates, so other players see him moving again. This momentary pause, sometimes just taking up a fraction of a second, could make it look like he was speedhacking, because it looked like he jumped from one place to another to other players when really, it just didn't send a few packets, so he didn't move, then when he moved again, jumped farther ahead. Even if he wasn't jumpy, this can still happen. If it doesn't send just one packet, he won't appear to be jumpy, but appear to just go a tad bit faster.
His connection could download the packets being sent to him fine, but it had trouble sending them, explaining why on his screen it looked normal.
I hope everyone could understand and comprehend what I just typed, because I know their probably is a better way of explaining it.

- Lag or packet loss will never make you run faster. If the server doesn't get a packet from you, it will assume you are moving at the same velocity as before. If it ends out that you stopped moving before you reconnected to the server, the server will teleport you backwards. It will never speed you up.
- Just because you have a low KD doesn't prove you weren't hacking.
In fact most of the hackers detected beyond a reasonable doubt by SMAC either have very low or high KDs. They probably use hacks because they are tired of sucking. - Just because you are arguing so much doesn't make you innocent either. Hello Bottiger,
I'm to explain why I deserved to be banned to Reddit? I believe the two threads are linked together. If Reddit sees my apology is forced, it will be meaningless. The only gesture that would mean anything to Reddit is if the ban is lifted and I tell them that you guys ended up doing the sensible thing.
The only good outcome here in my eyes is to unban me. Shows good faith from mods who had little evidence, and that Skial mods do not punish people who aren't cheating. It is my word against Rising's that I wasn't cheating.
