Admins can record demos if they feel like, but it isn't necessary. Bottiger chose the current team because he trusts their judgement, I advise you to do the same.
true, but a demo would help in the more sketchier cases such as this one. just sayin

So, where do we go from here? Is this just a case of my word against Risen's and the ban stands? If I was a habitual speedhacker, wouldn't I have better stats, wouldn't I have some higher tier gear from playing/understanding the trading system?

I'm a casual player. I'm asking for a second chance to play. If I am some cheater, I'm prone to cheat again. If I'm caught again, THEN ban me for life and throw away the key.

You'll need to talk to Roman or Bottiger about it. If you make a donation to the server or something to that nature he may be willing to unban you, but that obviously doesn't allow you to do anything funny in the future. Second time there would be no chance.

Paying for a overturn of a wrongful ban? I don't mean to charge in on my high horse, but... really? Again, I am new here, so I don't know whose word is law and who are troll. I don't have money to throw around, hence the crappy laptop and shoddy connection that started this mess.

It's an idiot filter. Usually people that actually want to stick around and do good by the community make a donation anyway. If not, then not a single fuck was given!

Once again, pardon the equine, but where's the incentive to pay for a service that has already put me out? And after I pay, what's to keep someone else from "deciding that I'm hacking" and pummeling me with the ban hammer?

Forgive the snide comments, just hoping for cooler heads to prevail and get back into the game.

It serves as an investment in the community, a method of prevention of future hacking without having to keep the player banned.

Before tf2 was f2p a ban meant you'd have to buy the game again to subvert the ban, it was a deterrent for hacking. A 10$ investment in the community serves a similar purpose. If he hacks again he's banned, he loses 10$, and we have 10 more dollars to pay server costs, etc.

In the past bottiger offered the option of donating 10$ to us, or 10$ to the american red cross, to show it wasn't him just attempting to get money for himself. Either way it's still a deterrent, one way the community can expand, the other you are helping people in need.

Skial doesn't ban for the hell of it.

Look, until you give more evidence of your innocence or some kind of financial incentive for an unbanning it isn't going to happen. Everyone who matters here trusts Risen Demon far more than you (which is why he's an admin while you aren't). Bottom line, I would suggest finding some different servers to play on.

I know Risen must be trusted here. I'm sure he is trustworthy. I know I am new here, and thus, my word is equal to dog shit. But it still seems heavy handed to permaban a new guy who someone once thought he saw do something.

I still don't like the idea of people being able to buy their way out of a ban.

All we are asking for is some proof of your innocence, how your going to do that I have no idea. Oh and yeah compared to you Risen is god, so be mindful.

Guilty until proven innocent, eh? Well, if the burden of proof is on me, I guess it's stalemate for now.

it's also worth noting that before TF2 cost $20 before it became F2P, so the $10 investment was, and still is, more than fair

How about this then, i will unban you if you donate to either us, the Red Cross, or another well known charitable organization. Once you show us some kind of proof that you donated, then I will lift the ban. I realize this seems kind of like a "pay for play" kind of deal, but this shows us if you're serious about not hacking anymore.

Most of us trust Risen's word on this, yeah. However, if you admitted that you did speedhack, told us where you got the hacks from, and will not hack again, we can hold a vote for your unban.

I understand the function of the donation mechanism. I really don't have ten bucks to go tossing around. I'm a college student, and ten bucks could be stretched into several meals. Not trying to give you the 'starving puppy dog' eyes, just explaining my position. And once again, I've always been serious about not hacking. I wasn't hacking when I played with you yesterday. I'm not even sure what speedhacking implies.

To CiNiC:

I wish I could confess. I would have to do some researching about speedhacking to lie to you about how I would do it. At this point, if I was hacking, it wouldn't be worth trying to convince you otherwise, only to be caught again when you unban me.
