No. That's not at all what I find odd. You should work on your reading comprehension, I think. I just find it odd that nobody gives a shit what happens in the server and the only time we see server admins is when they're 'forced' into the server to check up on an admin applicant.
I am not being forced into a server to check up on an applicant. I choose to go to a server which is someone's self-claimed turf, because I don't know the applicant and want to see if the original complaint that their text chat was garbage held any merit. The idea behind that part of the application, the little part where it says What server do you play on? That's so we CAN GO LOOK.
I am not required to check on him. No one is required to check on him. We want to meet him and get a feel for him, and to see how he handles things - because as so many of you state, he speaks up against vote abuse, etc. It's nice you're here to say that, but we want to see it too.
Most of us -really- don't like when it is announced that an admin is on the server. When I hop onto another server to see what is going on, and the first thing out of someone's mouth is "OH WATCH OUT ADMIN IS HERE," it just ruins it. People can toggle cheats off and be more careful, watch what they are saying, etc. When people suspect people of cheating, and they start accusing the person in all chat, when an admin is there trying to spectate and record a demo, there's 75% chance now that everything the admin sees is just going to be bullshit worthless. It's nice you guys want to know who the admins are (so you can DM and ask for help etc) but half the time, you knowing who the admins are impedes the fucking job so much.
If there is vote abuse going on, if there is rule-breaking going on, Dustbowl players need to learn now that they should be making reports. TF2 admins are required to handle reports - if no reports are coming out of Dustbowl, why is there a need for an admin to be present? How would we know there's a problem happening if you guys are too lazy to type even a simple !report and 2 !votereports, or god forbid, take 4 minutes to record a demo? It's a fucking hassle, I know, and it interrupts your gaming. But the more you do it, the easier it gets, and it will get something DONE about what you guys are seeing.
