Declined Remove Unmoderated

Unmoderated has become a terrible place. It was fun while it lasted, but it has just become too much.

There's nothing but trolling, pointless posts, people fighting amongst one another and grotesque shock images. So, it essentially has become 4chan- a breeding place for trolls that infect other places in the forums. At first it was funny, but it's gotten to the point where its gone overboard and overflowed other places. At this point, it's cancerous. All of Skial needs some sort of moderation to keep unfavorable professional trolls out, ie. Mario.

I'm not saying to get rid of NSFW, since I do think that there needs to be some place where images that aren't safe for work can be posted. But I do think that unmoderated should be shut down to reduce the amount of unfavorable users that are appearing because of it, as well as reduce the internal fighting among the regulars.

Edit: I should make it clear, I have no issue what goes on in umoderated; it's a place where drama can happen, trolling is fine, etc. My issue is that it's now becoming a problem in other places in Skial. The drama, trolling, etc. isn't being kept in umoderated and I know a lot of users who are becoming more vocal regarding their issues with it.

Unmoderated was alright when it was first implemented here, back when the only drama going on was the hilarious shit Herald kept starting, and threads about nothing were everywhere. Now it's just a safe haven for shitposting and unfunny bullshit drama. It's not like what happens in unmod stays in unmod, either. Someone starts shit with someone in unmod and the shitposting leaks into other threads with both people involved outside of unmod. What was supposed to be the end to passive-aggressiveness is now creating more of it.

The reasons are different. The last post was because of drama within unmoderated. This has got to deal with the drama that's pouring out because of umod.

Better to have a bit of deleted shitposting here and there that people get warning points and bans for than shitposting everywhere without consequence.

The unmoderated section has two obvious purposes.
1: Harmless bullshit fun. Yanno, two friends/acquaintances just bashing each other to no end for shats and gargles, as displayed here.
2: Then there's the endless pools of drama. Unmod is there to contain that and keep it away from the rest of the forum.
It fails in this regard, though. No matter the case, if there's drama then someone's being srsasfuck about it. What happens in unmod stays in unmod, but the sensitive feelings affected will remain affected elsewhere.
I'm not going to pretend to like anyone I don't like just because it's not in unmoderated.
It was fun for a while but I'm now in full support of it's removal. It's breaking more than it's fixing.

If anything Unmoderated and it's drama isn't the problem, the drama itself is a problem because people lack the ability to keep drama to themselves. Though I agree with Dave and Herald. It just gives people reason to think they can start shit or post something stupid. That will obviously lead to even more drama that can and most likely seep outside Umoderated.

Ex: The oh so idiotic, Official Skial Drama History Thread.

A father is responsible for his own child's stupidity. He was able to prevent it by properly raising his child but didn't. He enabled the stupidity, and so he is just as much a problem as his failure of a child.
An unmoderated section not only enables but encourages the drama it was created to avoid. If anything, it ought to be replaced by the old NSFW section so gore and porn and all that shit still has a proper place.

If he has a problem with him he should talk to him in private. I don't get the urge to make a problem with a single person public. The section was originally made because those public fights were ending up in general already and so we wanted a place to put them that only logged in people could see. We took the stance of, it's happening, and we can't stop it, so how can we contain it. Fact of the matter is it's an internet forum, and when you have a bunch of 14-16 year olds (and 18-40 year olds acting like 14 year olds) talking anonymously to each other, you're going to get these fights and for some reason they want the whole world to know instead of keeping it to themselves. Most likely the fights would happen anyways without the section. The hope is that the section allows people to 'vent' or talk about anything.

I would be for closing it down for a month and seeing what happens.
