all of those countries have a tradition of hating each other's guts and i think that's beautiful

In your vain effort to be witty and sarcastic you overlooked that lineage does not equal culture.
 
Japan has lots of traditions dating back more then 100 years that are still there and some newer.

Only big difference is yes tech and things being nice and cheap
