This shutdown does affect my family in that my kid's dad is mandated to work without pay right now. They aren't shutting down the borders and all the federal law enforcement agents still have to work. Also if they took leave, they can't stay home and are mandated to come to work. Still waiting to see what will happen with pay and how long this lasts, because you know... bills that are still shared. I am kinda glad that I am a Ranger at the State level and not a Federal Ranger or I would be out of work for the time being.

I love how a lot of people (not you guys, mostly around school) are blaming Obama of all people for this. I mean, even if he wants to do something for the better, Boehner and his rag-tag Rebbies are keeping it from occurring. I like how unorganized and childish this all is.

The house has always been a circus. The senate was supposed to be where the big boys are.

Don't blame Obama for this, it isn't his fault. Would he veto a bill that defunds Obamacare? Yes but don't forget even his veto can be overruled. You can blame republicans or democrats, but you can't blame the president.

IMO we should start completely over. Blaming just the dissenters is how government gets corrupted.
I pondered that idea in Economics class, and it would end in upwards 50% of all Americans to lose their jobs and the Economy to crash completely, so not the best idea.

Just curious; how'd you arrive at those numbers, exactly? I mean, we replace 50% of the senators at once, last I checked. How much harder could it be to re-elect 100 new people? Admittedly I'm not an expert on governments so I'm mostly just hypothesizing.

Thanks, Obama.

ironically, by shutting down the government, the republicans have done a lot more for gun control than democrats hoped to do; the shutdown affects the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, meaning that gun permit anyone wants processed won't happen anytime soon if this goes on for a while.

You're assuming that the newly elected won't be corrupt as well.

Do I need to tell you what happens in the whole world when the US's economy goes in recession? Take a look at Europe right now. Specifically, Greece,

Man, fuck Greece, they lied to get in the Eurozone and they all be whining and shit and omg why whould they do this geez

America would still be to blame no matter what happens. fuck america

I keep forgetting that discussing serious matters on forum full of little kids is not usually a good idea.. Oh well..

Hold a world leader's meeting, and get Obama to explain what will happen if the debts are not payed.
Right, so on top of reputation of the country that's poking its nose all over the world, USA would get reputation of blackmailer and extortionist.

I love how a lot of people (not you guys, mostly around school) are blaming Obama of all people for this.
I blame American people for not being able to pay their debts and control their spending abilities. I also blame George Bush for administering this country in a stupid manner. Obama got bad inheritance - I can't blame him for that.

I'm kinda tempted to just move out of country honestly. This place is such a mess...

This is just because you have never seen what's happening out there... :D
Just move to a nicer state, Washington legalized ... gay weddings

So that's why you're staying there...

Still, I'm pretty sure replacing them all at once wouldn't destroy 50% of all jobs.

No, but it would cost millions (if not billions) to taxpayers, so fuck it.

True, but why else would we hold elections if we didn't hope for less corrupt and/or better people?
It's idealistic. What actually happens is:
Elected > Bought and Paid For > Elected > Bought and Paid For > Elected > Bought and Paid For > and so on.
