Whatever happens next. It won't be good. Riots are a possibility.

Am I the only one who finds it kind of silly that this has happened 18 times now and no one has made a back up plan yet?

I'm just a dumb american who doesn't follow this stuff so I'm talking about things I don't understand but something's wrong when the majority of the government is grinding to a halt because a bunch of idiots disagree on how to fund things.

I just wanna go live in England and under a monarchy, I'm so tired of democracy...
and US
and people
and life
and earth
and the solar system
and the milky way
and the observable universe
Somebody, just erase of atom of my being from existence

Here in Australia, if the House of Representatives and the Senate were deadlocked and reached a stalemate, then the party with majority can call for a 'double dissolution' procedure which effectively dissolves both houses of parliament and an election is called.
This means that if our government can't do their job, then they risk losing their job.
America could use this.

During a shutdown, you can:

-Call 911 and other emergency services
-Get your trash removed
-Get a new passport (probably)
-Visit the Capitol Building
-Collect food stamps
-Receive mail via USPS
-Be protected by the US military
-Ride Amtrak
-Sign up for healthcare exchanges
-Travel by air
-Apply for a new patent
-Receive unemployment checks
-Pay taxes
-Get weather warnings and watches
-Collect Social Security benefits

During a shutdown, you cannot:

-Get a new small business loan
-Visit national parks or monuments
-Apply for new Medicare or Social Security
-Check citizenship status of a given person
-Get audited
-Visit the Smithsonian or National Zoo

That's it. If the fucking senate can't do the goddamn job they are paid so much for, maybe we should fire all of them (or at least the problematic Republicans who will screw everything up if they don't get their way to help millionaires and big enterprises) and put in fresh, yet-uncorrupt brains.
