Who cares?
The longer the deadlock stays, the worse the US economy is. You aren't* affected yet, and I'll even assume most of us didn't feel an effect as the parts we rely on is "non-affected". People will start caring when we don't raise the debt ceiling and you start losing your entry level apple job.
I don't need the government's money, nor any of their services. I seriously don't see how this is such a big deal that everyone's panicking over it. I guess it just goes to show how well-off the majority of America isn't.

The world relies on the US government. We have the world trading center and control the IMF. "lol stupid democrats and republicans, they don't do shit b4 adn they won't do shet nao, why do i car? This isn't about Obamacare. If they don't pass the budget and raise the debt ceiling and we don't pay off our loans, everyone will feel it. Ironically we are the world's safest creditor, as people use our currency and our bonds to secure their cash. Other government's buy our bonds if they want to make transaction, because its safer than cash itself. The longer we are in a lockout, the unsafer we become, at first our interest rates will rise from people who buy bonds from us, cause they aren't as sure we can pay them back for it. Meh, more inconvenience, still doesn't affect me, why should I care? The second we can't pay off a loan, we start having massive issues. If we miss a loan payment, all of a sudden our bonds aren't secure, people will withdrawing cash from us cause they don't feel safe.
Then our economy collapses cause we can't support ourselves, and we drag everyone down with us. Worldwide depression.

LOL, it's just America, why would the others get affected?
As stated earlier, America is the Center of World Commerce, you might think it's China, but china is still a developing Nation. China is keeping us afloat by buying us out of our debt with our bonds, why? Cause our economy is tied to each and every nation and the American consumers dictate the world pace.

So before you just make jokes and think you don't need/are better than the US government or you can just move to a different country if shit hits the fan, you won't be able to.

Editted: are to aren't

That's it. If the fucking senate can't do the goddamn job they are paid so much for, maybe we should fire all of them (or at least the problematic Republicans who will screw everything up if they don't get their way to help millionaires and big enterprises) and put in fresh, yet-uncorrupt brains.
IMO we should start completely over. Blaming just the dissenters is how government gets corrupted.

Who cares?
Whether we like it or not, the U.S is the bedrock foundation for trade all across the world, and the Dollar is the currency that's used as the base currency almost all over the world, the U.S shutting down is about to break the already weak economy, if they keep going, it's going to basically break shit all over the world, not just lose a few jobs in the U.S.

Solution? Replace congress IMO. Not like these jokes are getting anything done.

This really sucks, especially now that they've found traces of E. Coli around Washington
Also, they set NASA's budget back 2 years, as if they weren't struggling enough

If they don't raise the debt ceiling in two weeks then Obama will invoke the 14th amendment most likely. While he's in his right to do it, Republicans will most likely try to impeach him for it (even though it will be their own fault).

The dollar is VERY important as it's THE reserve currency. There would be a global recession if the US defaulted on it's debts.

I really hope the Dems don't back down though. Republicans are basically using the entire US economy and 800,000+ government workers as a bargaining chip to delay healthcare reform. Whether you believe in it or not, it's a pretty dick move to threaten global economic collapse over it. It's pretty much a last resort considering they've tried to repeal the act 40+ times since it was passed 3 years ago. Also, I solely place the blame on John Boehner. Not only is he a colossal tool, but as of now the only thing keeping the government shutdown is him. They can most likely get a majority vote to pass the budget but due the "Hastert Rule" he can block it. Just in case you didn't think the US government was dumb enough, the Hastert rule says no House Speaker shall bring to the floor any legislation not supported by “the majority of the majority” (i.e., the majority of the Speaker’s caucus). This means that he and 10 other republicans are basically holding the entire nation hostage until they get their way (talk about consolidation of power)

Context on the 14th amendment:
The argument over the 14th Amendment goes like this: Section IV says that “the validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law … shall not be questioned.”
Therefore, if you believe that the “public debt” can’t be questioned in any context, the debt ceiling itself is unconstitutional.

Government shutdown implies government's inability to handle budget, inability to reach consensus, inability to rule the country. As a result, credibility of government falls down on international level. As a result, government is not trusted. As a result, country's economy is not trusted, as a result economy goes into another recession leap.

Do I need to tell you what happens in the whole world when the US's economy goes in recession? Take a look at Europe right now. Specifically, Greece, Italy, and Spain.

Also, this particular shutdown occurred due to inability to set up a budget => spending limits; which means that considering US external debt, this shutdown can potentially end up in US bankruptcy which will mean crash of the world economy.

you people didn't listen to me when i called america a 3rd world country and that i stated canada is better than america. now you pay the price

Do you understand at least remotely, what's gonna happen to Canada if the US fails?

... Having no jobs and moving to the woods looking for some meat. Oh yeah, and paying pathetic taxes. Hold on.. I forgot.. You'll have no money..

Hold a world leader's meeting, and get Obama to explain what will happen if the debts are not payed. What should happen is that he'll explain how the world economy would collapse, and the other leaders would agree with him. Then he would ask that if, given the information he just told them, the countries that America would revoke their debts, otherwise it would be even worse for everyone. Someone argue that one. I haven't ever been correct or had a good understanding of politics. (Yes I know a lot of people probably wouldn't agree)

What if it starts affecting your beard?

I love how a lot of people (not you guys, mostly around school) are blaming Obama of all people for this. I mean, even if he wants to do something for the better, Boehner and his rag-tag Rebbies are keeping it from occurring. I like how unorganized and childish this all is.
