I used to be like that. But being a nice guy on the internet doesn't give you brownie points anywhere. I wouldn't lie to the kid though, take advantage of his broken prior knowledge.

Nope, it doesn't give me karma. Like I said, I will rip off an adult. But if you sound like you are six years old and you have people jumping at you to try and rip you off, I will let you know.

I was a kid once and if my mom bought me shit, I wouldn't want people to take it unfairly. Adults though, they are smart enough to read before they start trading.

No matter who it is, a shark is still a shark and people will get punished for committing such acts.

Hell I'd do it, it's a videogame, I understand some people spend money on it or that kid might even have used his parents money for it. It's his own parents' fault if they aren't checking what he's spending their money on and it's his fault for not knowing the prices of items, and if he doesn't then hell learn real quick once his things are gone. Sure id feel a little guilty about it, but then I wouldn't care, I just don't really care about items in the game anymore. I usually craft everything I have no matter the price just cause I can, and if I can get something cheap or free off of some kid then fuck it I'll do it

This.
An economy has no business in a first person shooter.

Sharking in a video game is way different than IRL sharking. It's a bad move, but it's also just a video game.

i do it when people are fully aknowledged of what they are about do.

True story:

Sold A.Ambassador for Prof KS A.Rocket Launcher

Sold the Rocket Launcher for $200.

I did this with only guy, he obviously knew what he was doing, since someone who carries $200 in their paypal accounts must be grown up enough to understand TF2 trading.

Little children should not be playing rated M games. This does not mean id shark them, but they are just a very easy target due to kids are stupid. So I know some people who would not only shark the kid, they would probably try to scam them, or even try to get their steam account.

The internet is a crazy place, it's really not for kids.

Who is backpack.tf to decide the price of the item I want to sell. They are not the all decider of what I choose to sell my items. As long as both parties are happy with the trade then there is no sharking. Prices are an illusion valve adds items and what a few long time traders who have 1000 buds decide on what the items price is determined at because they are the only one who traded for the item.

Exactly, I hate that every item has to have a set price by backpack.tf and everyone has to apparently follow that. If I have a hat that someone wants and they have a hat I want, why the fuck does the price matter then? We can both just swap the hats and both be happy, there's no need for all this profit bullshit in a videogame.

because, somehow, the collapsing economy of TF2 seems to be WORSE than America's.

Then what would be the point of promos or unusuals? They're all just hats. Why wouldn't you trade me your unusual for my cool unique misc? It's the same in every game that has an economy. Why do some mounts cost upwards of 1mil gold in WoW and some are 25k?

Because people are greedy, and in WoW it makes sense, you need gold to buy armor that actually helps your character do more damage, have more health, etc. In Tf2, hats are just hats, if I had some unusual and you had a misc I wanted, then sure fuck it I'd do it. Hell I'd probably just give away the unusual like I did my pro killstreak sniper

I'm talking about purely cosmetic items in wow. Mounts. The things you ride around on. They're status symbols just like certain hats/promos are. There are also transmog items. They are often very low level armor that people like the look of. They pay lots of gold to be able to get that look. Just like in real life. People could drive dodge neons, but if they want to show off, they buy a luxury car or a sports car for more money.

Ok I guess I'll say it again then, because people are greedy. They sell those mounts for a lot of gold just so they can have a lot of gold. They buy those transmog items to show people that they have more gold then them. People buy those nicer cars to feel better about themselves and to show off to other people. Cause we all like to be better then each other. And in a videogame where I'm supposed to shoot people I'd rather be better then people by being able to kill them then by looking better with a fancy hat
