There was a kid in the Trade US server that sounded like he was about 10 years old. He was trying to sell a key.
There was an OVERWHELMING amount of people trying to shark the key off of him. Some people offering 1 refined, 2 refined, etc.

When I voiced the fact that keys are currently going for 8.55 refined, these same people were trying to drown me out and were saying that I'm a scammer, etc.

Personally, I don't mind sharking if it's an adult. If the person sounds old enough to buy the items with their own money, I would take advantage of them. But for kids, who probably have a limited amount of keys/items available to them, I don't think it's right. Just trying to get the opinion of some other regulars.

Once a kid offered me a free 1 bud upgrade to my unusual, his name was complete spam and his grammar horrible.

At first, I tried sharking it but then I just changed my mind and didnt.

He was the one who offered though, the poor soul probably got sharked by a different man.

I must be the only person in here that would rather educate the kid and try to teach him how to check key prices on bp.tf before he sells. These fools are running wild among themselves to try and get a key for cheap.

Pretty stupid/immature if you ask me.

B-but I did that with my opportunity to shark a kid.
At least, I tried.

If they're half a decade below the ESRB requirements for the game, I personally think they deserve it.

Poor guy is completely clueless. He just nearly let a key go for 2 scrap. I ended up giving him 4 crates and told him he could unbox them if he wanted.

I think sharking definitely crosses into asshole territory, but going out of your way to convince someone that their expensive item is completely worthless in hopes to get it from them for a cheap price is even worse, regardless of how old they are.

Even if they "had it coming" its still pretty damn wrong if you ask me.

Well someone just sharked his rancho relaxo off of him. Now they're going for his keys again.

if they trades me and offer me an extreme overpay, i'll take it, but i wouldn't make an attempt to shark them though by lying or something.

Nah, I took a few kids aside and let them know what they had and gave them info on trading before they got sharked.

I'm not an asshole irl and I choose not to be one in game. To each their own though.

Well I have gotten a few good deals from unsuspecting adults. They're smart enough to go read the guide to trading though. They know the implications of spending real money on the items.

For a kid though, his parents probably spent $X on the game and he may not get a chance to get more items. I hate seeing people rip off a little kid like that. If I get sharked for an item, I'll buy more. He's clearly not old enough to have his own money, so it's disheartening to see so many people coming out of the woodworks to rip him off.

His keys are gone BTW. Someone traded him a conga taunt. He may have come off alright but that was because I was extremely vocal in that he should say on the mic what he is trading and what he is getting in return.

I have. Honestly when you're trying to get rid of something and an offer that is much better than what you are looking for comes up, I'd feel dumb not taking it, even if the technique seems a little douchey. I don't mean anything personal by it, business is just business.

Well for unusual trading sometimes people price and sell things for half or even an entire bud for high tier items. I would feel bad sharking a kid for something worth a good amount. He has limited resources and knowledge unlike an adult who can most likely buy another item. I would inform him about what he has and if he understands and still wants to trade than I might trade lol.

it's not wrong if someone overpays or underpays for an item, thats how money and trading work. Maybe it is quickselling or sell to make a (big) profit.
