lol, I did read the whole thread and sorry for the (on a second reading) rather flowery language. :P My main point was just that this didn't happen on a skial server and the ban wasn't issued by someone who represents skial (at least in their capacity as admin of that particular server). Getting everyone set up and running in a scrim or match can be hard enough without random people who aren't on either team disrupting play by popping into the teams.

I skimmed the thread, but one important question still remains in the back of my mind.
Why hasn't Viper posted, himself?
He told me he had a long road trip to go on to go visit his mother, then said He was wiping his friends list quitting here and blacklisting all our servers........Granted a little over the top on the reaction scale.
Not my style at all. A good old fashioned shit storm is good for the soul.
It doesn't matter where the event was organized or where the communication was taking place. It's up the TF2 server owners/operators to decide whether or not someone deserves a ban (a point which has been made about the skial servers many times). There was no admin abuse here, and even if there was that admin doesn't report to skial or in any way represent them. Having someone else in charge is the price you pay for going to play on someone else's server.

Then the skial forums, mumble and everything else should NOT have been used to organize it.....let it go. it was a skial event and he got boned by skial members on a server owned by a skial member.

Boned? A 30-minute ban now equals a boning? :seriously: I don't know Viperstriker very well, but this does seem like an awfully small reason to leave this community (and a sad reason to lose an old timer). Anyway, I'll leave it at that and wish you all a good night.

Teams need to stick together, I get the point of the thread. Seems to me like a division in "the team" is the problem, not one persons actions, although one persons actions now has driven the wedge deeper.
Banning for this is imo pretty harsh, not sure how it works, but cant you, as an admin, force a player to spec mode? And going out on a limb here, if so many of the team voted a ban, doesnt the needs of the few outweigh the needs of the one? (sorry for the treky quote) surely if ban was passed by vote, it means it was a team decision, ergo: viper has been passed to the proverbial bench by majority rule.

I do have to agree... When CiNiC and I were doing the tournaments last summer we had a lot of people that would pop onto a team and not leave even being asked several times. Or they would switch from team to team after being in spectate for a while. Maybe the server should've been password protected (which is what we did for the tournies after the problem arose) but if it's a closed game, gotta respect that.
Now, that said, I do actually like Viper and I'm sad that he's so butthurt by this as I don't think it was a personal thing.

The ACTUAL situation (Drunk, lucid CiNiC who blacked out last night is the only one who can remember the details, guys?) was that we were having Giildy and Classy both go medic while everyone else went on spec, so they could melee duel to see who would get first pick for teams. Vipe wasn't going spec, still derping around. Giildy banned him. I was under the impression it was perma, but it WAS her private server, so there's that.

WAY I HEARD IT HE WANTED TO SIT ON SPEC AND WAS DENIED EVEN THAT.Seriously people get the point. It's not about it happening on a non skial server even though that doesn't matter and is a weak excuse for throwing a clan member under a bus.
