This suggestion comes as a concern that players are being punished twice for the same infraction and it is negatively impacting the community.

Quarf is the first report that I was involved in witnessing. They were discontent about being muted for a slur by the automute, but they did not repeat after the mute expired. Unfortunately, a report was generated for another mute to be actioned on the player. They have not returned after they were muted again.
Quarf is just one of the many players who choose not to return to Skial. Multiple similar reports are occurring that prevent players from playing in Skial.

Another example is Jebus's report. How can it be considered fair to impose two disciplinary actions when the evidence clearly shows the automute doing its function?

Lastly, the most recent report from Arvense. This player appeared, according to logs, with poor intent.
They were automuted, so the situation at hand was already resolved.

Recent reports are resulting similarly. There are just too many times when a player is getting muted again for something they have already been muted for. It's out of control, and it needs to be addressed.

Again you don't know that. Maybe they're just having a bit of banter? Is that not allowed? Going back to my first point you often find that the majority don't really care but there is one killjoy who makes it their goal to report anyone they can just for the sake of it.


How do you know they are "racists" and not just making a joke? There is clearly difference between going "what's up my niggas" and "kill all niggers"...


I really don't understand this mentality. So you'd rather let an entire server die than give them a bit of leeway? Is this your way of "owning the chuds"? I can assure you that none of those edgy players on EU are actual racists they simply like to have fun and escape the real world. They don't want to have to be on edge all game thinking anything they could say might be reported even when it's only in jest.


This is bullshit. I've been playing on Skial longer than any current admin has been moderating it except @KinCryos. I have also probably contributed more than anyone else to Skial. Trust me when I say they don't know what they're doing otherwise Deathrun EU would still be alive.

Not trying to turn this into a cream tea mocking event, but this is the LAST person who should be giving input on discrimination lmfao. "I don't go out of my way to target transgenders, in fact there are a few on my friends list. I'm sick of the idea that we should support their delusions". His exact words from our dms, not mine. (Also, all the anti-jewish stuff).

My report was not because the n-word that triggered the automute. That was handled already, muting because of that would not be feasible

@arvense @Aeryn let's not be rude, now. My friend is entitled to post here, even if I may not agree with him.
 
I think I’ve said my point.

But it’s crazy @Cream Tea ’s argument alluded to 3 of the 7 elements of fascim without even trying. I doubt he’s even aware he did that.

It’s derailing the suggestion going off about politics. I appreciate the concern though for acknowledging my ideas even if we may not see eye to eye.
 
I'm unsure as to how these scenarios are considered double jeopardy. The automutes function is to purely silence the player so they can't repeatedly spam slurs. It's a fixed number and does not reflect any form of escalating punishments (Or even the base punishment, my assumption would be for false flags like the super rare scenario that someone is actually talking about niger). The automute punishment times are changed when brought to attention and reflect actual punishment lengths.
A similar example would be detainment. Holding a person so they cannot commit further crimes is not the punishment as they are sentenced at a later date which reflect the actual crime committed.

Double jeopardy is punishing someone twice for the same crime. If they have been automatically muted then what is the need to mute them again? The automute has done it's job already; if they are saying it in a way to evade the automute then that's a different story.

Furthermore, why are players being muted just for being edgy anyway?

Oh my science! Somebody said "ni-" in the chat! Admins mute this man RIGHT NOW!

In all seriousness, I don't know why we still look at CT's opinion as something worth listening to. The man thinks mixed couples shouldn't have kids and that the earth is flat. He has admitted both of these in my dms. This is a genuinely mentally unwell individual who needs therapy, not discussing skial deathrun. Sorry for derailing your suggestion, winnie, but I can't keep this to myself anymore.

The automute is not reflecting for spam. Unless vote silenced for spam. Otherwise it provides the reason when detected for a slur as shown from Jebus’s evidence in the suggestion.

Why isn’t this being respected?

You are bringing the person out of detainment (automute) for another trial on the same offense after sentencing. They could be waiting to be let out the 30 minutes to communicate. We can’t tell for the good or for the worse, that’s up to the discretion and respect of the player. They already received the memo that they got muted and as for what. That’s caught at the scene of the crime guilty. No trial.

Not holding them in custody for further sentencing. That’s how I perceive it but considering the experience for a player in their shoes, it does not seem worthy of a disciplinary action to retain and adapt to Skial’s culture. It’s too much and especially if they get out of a mute and later falls back into one out of nowhere. Bottiger would have updated the mute system to abide by human reports but he has not.
