I enjoy playing the class when my team's not terribad. I enjoy the precision of the class. There's a right answer and a thousand wrong answers and, aside from dealing with Spies, every situation seems to me to be like an applicable knowledge test. I like that.

Does anyone else here like playing Engineer? And I don't mean trolling as a Gunslinger+Pomson+Short Circuit Engineer. I mean actually playing the class.
 
I don't understand the hate towards the Gunslinger, Short Circuit and Pomson. The Pomson fires visible projectiles that can be avoided with a bit of dancing. The Short Circuit after the nerf is much more fair and at least requires the engie to swap off the SC to receive metal and the Gunslinger provides high mobility. Obviously the minisentry is horrible and is the bane of everyone's existence but for a class like Engineer, these weps provide something that lets the Engie be an active part of the team. In conclusion, no I don't play engie. :P

It's because it fucks over spys so much and the mini sentry ruins your aim and the short circuit make's cancels out demoman and soldier.

Precisely so. I mean otherwise the engie would be stuck whacking at his dispenser all day. And just saying. So far in 100 hours of spy i've never been hit with a pomson shot

If I'm allowed to roam a little here and there, yes.

I used to main the class when I started playing, but when the turbine server I was on closed and I started only playing on Skial servers the average game-sense of people ticked up and I was never really as tricky or useful as I'd been before.

Still enjoy being lead away from my setup chasing spies, though. They always try babby's first stairstab and get crit-wrenched. And that makes me happy.
 
I cannot stand the class. Like medic, it is mostly stand and watch something kill people. However, ubers make medic more involved. For engi, I just watch a gun shoot other people I would rather gun down myself. Sure, level 3's can make or break a game. But it doesn't interest me to sit back and watch, and don't even get me started on the gunslinger.

Honestly, I'm just trying to weed out the people that just like to troll. That's not really playing Engineer. As far as the Pomson goes... I agree with you. The Pomson is a terrible weapon and people cry about it because STAR_ hates it, which is what makes it great for trolls. Guess what other weapon STAR_ hates that Engineers get and is even banned on his server.

I play Engineer when I'm not playing Pyro. :3 I like to help my team getting health and ammo, and have my Sentry be the back of my team when we defend our points. I usually go with Shotgun, Wrangler and The Jag, but recently I started using Rescue Ranger. It is really easy to keep your Sentry alive with that one

From what I've observed, people are just trying to counter them in really bad ways.

"Should I backstab that engie first, activate my deadringer/cloak and later sap the mini sentry? Nope! I'll ignore the engineer with his back turned towards me and blow my cover by sapping his mini sentry in front of his entire team then complain about how OP they are!"

- 95% of Spies I run across on a daily basis
 
I play Engie in comp. I am satisfied with a support role most of the time because I am kinda of laid back that way. In pubs I play it secondary to demo, but will switch to engie depending on the map and if it's needed.

There is something satisfying about circling a heavy and beating him to death with a wrench.
