A virtual system can still spread infections (iirc) and not everyone has one on hand. Sandboxie is a good alternative to that though. Why wouldn't you download the file to a virtualbox or something more isolated instead of your main HDD? Do you WANT to be infected? lol
It installs a screensaver. What are .scr files anyways?
No. They are script files that can get hijacked with Trojans. It installs a screensaver.
Basically an executable installer that only installs a screensaver.
The SCR file type is primarily associated with 'Script'. In November 2007 the SCR file extension started to be used to transmit a Trojan. As a script or a screen saver this file can execute other files which carry the Trojan. The SCR file may be embedded within a ZIP file which could also contain a file with a double extension.
Generic executable script created or used by a number of possible programs; when opened, the script typically runs a series of commands in the order they are listed.
Since script files are saved in a text format, they can often be edited in a basic text editor.
The .SCR extension can be given to .EXE files to detour any restrictions placed on EXE files by antivirus programs or malware.
Virtual is only gonna spread outside itself if you don't properly isolate it (ie have no clue what you are doing). LiveCD Linux distros are also good for playing around.A virtual system can still spread infections (iirc) and not everyone has one on hand. Sandboxie is a good alternative to that though.
