So I use a vpn cause im usually paranoid and like to have my stuff private, and ive tried to use the split tunnel feature on my tf2 and steam but for some reason whenever I try to play skial i still get the vpn warning, is it possible for me to be banned?

You can get banned if your VPN gives you an IP previously used by someone whose account is banned. Not otherwise

Yes, VPNs aren't allowed. You risk being banned from the servers if you use one. You can be banned even if you've never cheated just because someone has done that in the past under that same IP. So in other words, you can be banned simply for having VPN. Therefore it is prohibited. Simple.

The official statement is that you won't be banned for proxy IP if your account is "old enough" but who knows what "old enough" actually means.
1+ year, 10 years?

Take the risk if you want, be aware that it is possible to get banned so it's against the rules.

We don't disallow it, the risk is just higher to get a bad IP so it's not encouraged. Some people still use it and haven't gotten banned

It just depends on your general area, if you are using a popular VPN. Because that also means that there's a higher chance a cheater has previously used it

If you get banned you can just appeal it and get it removed

Accounts that are new and level 0 get blocked from joining entirely but not banned. The age for the account has to be 1-2 years as far as I know. It's somewhere around that area because steam uses a weird way of calculating account age

Just as an fyi the company you pay for your VPN still tracks your data. There’s a reason why criminal investigators can still find people using a VPN.

According to the forums you are using t-mobile. Wireless providers are classified as vpn because cheaters use those to get a new ip simply by rebooting their phone.

So yes, it is possible for you to be banned.

So thats why it was saying I was using a vpn, I was trying to split tunnel it and i guess its just cause of my router.
