Jake was absolutely not mic spamming, because nobody was complaining at all and people were actually enjoying it.

You've been banned multiple times for mic spam and you've also been vote muted. You really thought it was allowed? Not sure if trolling, or just really stupid.

Basically everyone was enjoying it so i would totally give him one more chance

Well what I say has absolutely no bearing because I'm not an admin. But I'm just pointing out what the admins will probably say.

imo, rule breaking in ANY form is rule breaking. if Jake was my friend, I wouldn't give another chance. plus, this isn't a permamute.

It be true that this here Jake mic-spammed some jams. But he readily admitted that he did, sparing the server of it's condemning silence. He entertained the VSH community.
It's also true that the VSH community is rather fond of Jake. He's quite, polite and shows peoples the rules when need be http://stats.skial.com/stats/hlstats.php?mode=chat&game=tfcustom&server_id=30&filter=&page=7.
Not to mention he is a great sniper, and he likes to play as sniper to help track the hale for the team. Jake's intention wasn't to hurt anyone, and I'm sure if he was asked to turn of the music he gladly would have?

The problem with music is its in a gray area.

Long story short, (to my knowledge) Bottiger hasn't given a clear cut and dry answer on what we should do about music. He said any form of music shouldn't be instantly considered 'spam', but he also said 1 person can force the majority of the server to client mute the music player which can be a problem.

Because of this its left up to admin discretion.

If what was said was true, the music being played was generally liked, then I personally don't see a problem with him playing it. But its not my silence so its Mocha's judgement over mine.

I have reviewed Jake's mutes and it goes from 1 day, to 1 week, to 1 month. Biggie did not properly check him mutes length and he gave Jake a week length mute right away. He should have been muted Jake for 3 days not 1 week so its goes off track on that part.

thats because the 3d was an actual ban http://www.skial.com/sourcebans/index.php?p=banlist&searchText=STEAM_0:0:45273940&Submit=

There's been a lot of clean up going on with this thread so please only post if you have something relevant that may help the case at hand.

I'll send a PM to Mocha so he'll know this is here the next time he gets on

I don't see why we should exclude ourselves from controlling spammers on any specific server. There are some circumstance I've seen people complain about.

  • Random babbling and shrieking.
Playing really bad quality music as if it TF2 voice chat wasn't bad enough.
Multiple people spamming music and voice clips at the same time.
If people don't care about it, I wouldn't consider it to be spam.

Bottiger said:
The real problem is that some admins think any music coming out of voice chat is spam, I don't agree with that definition.

Just because someone is playing music on their mic doesn't make it micspam. Bottiger has said he wished admins are more lenient towards people playing music.

Think about it, there is client mute for a reason. If someone doesn't like music that 90% of the people like, they can mute the person themselves. That is what it is there for.

Now, static, yelling, bad quality, ARE examples of micspam and should be dealt with regardless of people like it or not.
