Please type in the admin command you would use

I am in the server and i say over the mic "I hate all jews heil hitler". What do you do?

While defending the last point on Badwater, you discover someone [U:1:0000] on the enemy team built a teleport from the forward spawn room to the original spawn room. What do you do?

Someone else [U:1:00123] sprays gay midget porn. What do you do?

Cr33p3r, (the user above me) is hacking on the server. What do you do?

I would issue a warning first, depending on whether or not it was a bad joke, that hatespeech isn't allowed. If they continue, or are doing it for the sake of doing it I would open my mighty console and perform the following command:

sm_mute "KillerZebra" 1440

I would inform them that griefing is against the rules. I guess there are mutliple ways to deal with this depending on severity, you could simply sm_kick "#[U:1:0000]" to destroy their buildings and give them a firm message about action being taken. You could also sm_ban "#[U:1:0000]" 30 "griefing engineer", if they are really messing with the game.

I don't think gay midget porn is disallowed, so I could possibly remove it and tell them to be considerate if people are really complaining. I know that obvious things like child pornography are, though. So if it was a photograph of two underage, gay, midget individuals, then I would remove the spray -- sm_removespray -- whilst averting my eyes yet still engaging my crosshair with said spray.
Then I would ban then with sm_ban "#[U:1:00123]" 0 "gay midget child pornography sprayer"

I would investigate the suspect using sm_spec "Cr33p3r", whilst recording a demo for evidence -> record "Cr33p3r"
Once enough information has been gathered to confirm he was hacking, I would ban him with sm_ban "#[U:1:94454090]" 0 "hacking style" , report it, and go back to having fun.

you don't have to issue any warnings. Not saying you're in the wrong if you do give warnings, but they should know the rules in the first place

First- these are good answers.

#1
You would ban the griefing engineer for 30 minutes. 30 minutes is what is used for a vote ban, however admins use standard ban lengths. Do you know what these standard ban lengths are? They are not defined in the rules, however you should be able to find them in this forum.

#2
All of the ban commands you posted are correct and would work, however, for 'extra credit' if, for some reason, you could not access your console, and you needed to execute a command from the chat, how would you do it?

#3
Another extra credit question- because I think you know your shit, and I want to give you the change to show off- you have described how to ban people using their Steam ID's, can you describe two other ways to ban people?

#4
If someone is being racist in chat, is there a less restrictive punishment that you could use besides outright banning them?

I found a couple references to the standard times; what I saw didn't link much between some rules and their severity of breaking them once/multiple times. Unless I read too far into it and it's just straight across the board the same timespans.

You can access most any, at least the core commands, through their counterpart in chat by typing a ! instead of the sm_ you'd use in console. If you have the appropriate access, you can also command silently without displaying a message with a /. EX: sm_ban "sexygreenfrog" 30 "banning himself" would become !ban "sexygreenfrog" 30 "banning himself" in chat.

The other two ways to select targets for commands are by their in-game name "ѕехчᴳᴿᴱᴱᴺғʀоԍ" or through their userid which can be found listed in console by the status command "#6969"

You can "gag" someone (sm_gag) to remove their text chat abilites, mute them (sm_mute) to remove their mic cabilities, or sm_silence to remove both text and voice chat from the target.

Silence me for racism assuming it was, in each case:

1. my first offense
2. my second one
3. my third offense
4. fourth offense
5. fifth offense

Here's your chance to fix punishment times.
Hint: it's in a sticky thread in the "Team Fortress 2" section.

Good answers. If you are made admin, you will be made aware of standard ban lengths. It is basically a progression, as TapTap is alluding to. Punishments increase in length according to the number or infractions.

We want to make sure potential admins understand how bans/sourcemod commands work, which you seem very knowledgeable. So, good job on that.

Thank you for your answers.I feel that you have solidified your candidacy for admin, in my opinion.

I appreciate the effort here taken to make sure good admins make it through, it's somewhat unfortunate when servers don't do vigorous reviewing and you end up with admins who don't care or are self serving. Thanks to everyone so far for all the recommendations and nice comments!

Do you know what the standard ban lengths are?

For example,

How long should I be banned for my fourth offense of refusing to help my team advance their position.

Wow, I'm so sorry. I thought I had included that with my other posts, but it's a pretty straightforward formula for ban lengths.

Fourth offense would be a month long ban!

To make up for missing this information the first go around, I've made it into a little poem as a challenge.

First offense allots a single day,
the second will be three.
Third becomes a week, next a month,
then they're banned perma-nen-tly. (*NOTE: NOT ANYMORE)

I know that was terrible, so here it is in a more standard layout.
  1. 1 day
  2. 3 days
  3. 1 week
  4. 1 month
  5. Permanent (only for serious offenses)
I hope that clears that up!

*NOTE: Jeez, I almost forgot you guys took away permanent lengths for non-serious things, leaving it only for hacking/scamming/etc, so this should be the formula.
