Will you get mad if you lose admin?:
If I get removed from admin, I will be understanding as there are a multitude of logical reasons upper administration might have. If I am removed for "no reason" I may look into the matter but that will be where my efforts end.
How do you ban yourself using your own SteamID?:
sm_ban "SteamID" "Timeframe" "valid reason" Ex: sm_ban "[U:1:106883251]" "0" "Aimbot"
Any other reason you should be admin:
To say the least, I am a devoted player to Team Fortress 2, playing ever since the Summer of 2012. I have seen communities rise and fall over time and actually became and performed the actions of Admin, and Server Manager, for a community that has since disbanded known as, "Vigilante Gamers." My job required the consistent monitoring of the servers in which I had domain over. Muting, banning, and recording/reporting were but a few of my daily activities expected of me. Without hesitation, if not in class, I will drop everything I am doing to enforce order in a reasonable, collected manner. I see myself as fairly just in how I treat members of a community, though any form of cheating shall not go unpunished. I have college classes scattered throughout the day M,W-F. I come looking for a job as admin because I am exhausted by the sheer quantity of cheaters on late at night with no one to enforce the rules of Skial. I am more than open to further interviewing at your discretion. If you see me fit for the position, I can be contacted at ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------, or through the Skial interface. Hope to work with this outstanding community in the near future.

You look pretty clean to me, I don't play on US servers so I can't "really" judge what you really are in-game, It just looks very suspicious how many votemutes and votebans you call a day. It kinda looks like you're vote abusing but innit. There I'm sure its not vote abuse it just looks very suspicious. Because you don't talk much most of the time its just votes, which is explainable, just looks a little sus. Overall though No mutes,Bans and a somewhat detailed app.
Bruv you earned a +1 from me. I'm looking forward to seeing you on the Staff team.

If you've reported many cheaters and apply it looks good on you however even if the individual hasn't done such things it's not a problem considering you come across very professional imo with the detail and experience added. Commitment, helping out and making life easier for us fellow gamers is all we want. You seem to have a large range of different skills, I think you'd do a good job.

    Let's see what happens. :)

I agree with all points above. While I would liked to have seen forum reports to back up your desire to see the servers clean, it’s not essential - I also question some of the votes you call, it was pointed out that you may have called a vote to kick or ban someone just to clear a space on the other team for you after you were balanced.

It’s not an accusation, it’s a question, just pointing out :) I’m on my phone so can’t get quotes of this right now but will when I’m home.

    EDIT: The logs
    2FORT+ | NY 02/07/2019 - 04:25:42 PM Paladin /votemenu ban #[U:1:3355867]
    2FORT+ | NY 02/07/2019 - 04:25:36 PM Paladin !votemenu
    2FORT+ | NY 02/07/2019 - 04:14:13 PM Paladin Neat
2FORT+ | NY 02/07/2019 - 04:13:55 PM Paladin Nothing but the fact I don't want to be on blue
    2FORT+ | NY 02/07/2019 - 04:13:37 PM Paladin yeh
    2FORT+ | NY 02/07/2019 - 04:13:22 PM Paladin Someone move to blue

In the meantime I see no reason not to +1 this - chat logs appear clean and you come across well.

The vote was made 11 minutes after asking someone to move to blue. Doesn't seem from this snippet that the two are related.

The point of my question is that people express concern and disdain for cheaters or unpunished offenders of the rules and yet don't make the effort to help the admin team via reporting it.

Absolutely nothing against the person applying, but it would make more sense to assist the team that is already in place at the very least, prior to applying to join that team yourself. Mind you this is just my personal logic in progress so hopefully no one takes offense.

At any rate the player applying does seem professional and as already stated has a clean record.

  11. Bottiger

    Bottiger Administrator

    Steam:

You don't have to make reports to be an admin, but if you are going to use this as the reason you are applying:

then it is bizarre that we haven't even seen a single report from you especially when you've been on our servers for over 300 hours. Not even 1!

This means either you are lying about the "sheer quantity of cheaters" or you don't really care about the server that you can't even be bothered to make 1 report if the server was as bad as you say it was and just want admin powers.

We have clamped down hard on hackers these past few months through automated systems, we get as little as 2 aimbot reports per week now.

Paladin you can reply by scrolling all the way down to the bottom of the page and typing into the gigantic white box or there is a reply button on every single post that you can click on and it will quote that post and then give you a box to type into.

    Now, to defend myself...

In regards to the comment, "you can't even be bother to make 1 report if the server was as bad as you say it was and just want admin powers." no, I don't just want admin powers. In fact, I am completely alright with the idea of not having admin powers in any regard whatsoever. Ideally, some other admin would regularly play NY 2Fort but that isn't always the case, thus, why I am applying before you. If you think I am some kind of sociopath looking to be omnipotent and reign supreme then you are wrong, I want to stop seeing script kiddies running around Skial servers. All I truly want is to come home after a long day of work, and wind down playing on Skial 2Fort without my experience (and others) being ruined by some cheater, but unfortunately this is not always the case. Once again, if you question my integrity as an individual, I would be more than happy to put you in contact with the previous owner of Vigilante Gamers, to which I managed many of their servers. Moving on though...

I personally, find ban reporting on forums to be not only far too slow, but completely useless as far as practicality. Individuals who cheat on a server usually cause chaos throughout the server on a specific account they made, then they leave, most likely never to return again. On the off chance that they do return, it will probably be under a different name. Let's say hypothetically, the individual is banned. The truly adamant have no issues making a new account, running their game through a VPN, or changing their IP address, thus rendering any ban Skial provides to be useless. Of course, this is with me making an assumption that you ban via IP and Steam account. The point is, I see no reason to submit a ban report on the forums as an individual has to review my post, check my credibility, review any evidence provided, and then proceed to ban the individual. Those cheating only have to make a new Steam account, change their IP through their command prompt, and drag a file or two before they are once again terrorizing a server; a process that only takes five minutes! Some even go to the extent to have a script that generates accounts and regularly changes the computer's IP for even faster results.

I find constant monitoring and banning quickly after a demo is taken to be the most effective strategy. If a cheater knows an admin is constantly watching over his/her server, they are heavily inclined to not return, at least for a long time. After managing a handful of servers for Vigilante Gamers, I found this to be extremely effective at limiting the amount of cheaters found regularly. Of course, you all may have your own opinions and refutations, to which I openly endorse.
