Why does "mute" on /votemenu even exist? It's such a redundant function.
EVERY player has access to the default client-mute AND the /ignore command.
You can argue that players don't know how to client-mute or /ignore, but without the notifications teaching you how to /votemenu, players wouldn't know how to use that, either.
The votemute function does nothing but help players bully and alienate people they don't like! It's often younger players that are subjected to this, and it projects a negative view of the community.
If players were more aware of client-mutes and the /ignore command, they could simply mute the person and carry on with their life, they gain all the same benefit they do from a votemute without ruining it for other people who perhaps WANT to listen to the muted person.
You may be surprised how easy it is to get 75% yes votes very unfairly. It causes players to be left with no form of communication even if they haven't done anything wrong, and it's VERY hard to gather "proof" of an unfair mute to report it, especially over mic.
Votemuting is a redundant function that does nothing but spread hate and negativity that can easily be avoided just by being informed of the already existing mute functions that don't ruin the muted's day.
You're simply giving people the ability to be an asshole with no punishment; without this aggresive, hateful function they would be forced to simply client-mute, and it would end better for everyone.
I'm not asking you remove it instantly, it's probably better to get notifications and information spreading around on the client-side mutes before doing so, it's just such a shame that if people were more informed, this doesn't even need to exist.
If something I've said seems shortsighted, or has glaring issues, feel free to point it out. I'm simply speaking my mind; I could very well be incorrect on a few points...
I'm pretty convinced this will get denied, but if I don't try to do something about it, I don't have the right to complain.
