I'm a manager and have 32 people working under me. I had a supervisor who worked for me who knew his job inside and out and did it very well. His problem was his attitude and mood swings. I fired him. People who are in a position of power NEED to be mature, honest & stable. There is more to being a supervisor (in this case, an admin) than just doing the job.
... Ok. Heres the thing. Those things I bolded are only partially necessary. There's a simple, and necessary reason for this:
People in supervision, managerial, and yes, admin positions need to be able to effectively be liked by both the community, be considered responsible by the "boss", and still get the job done. I bet that supervisor you fired simply forgot switch back to his "responsible" position.
All of the admins her have to switch between "fun mode", "work mode", and " O crap, Bottiger's actually watching me" mode. All of our admins are efficient at doing this, and do it often. See Toxic's above post? He's an admin. CD jokes around with the best of us, but still is attempting to keep this tread on track. Roman enjoys poking fun at people just as much as Toxic. Classy is a troll, like Toxic and most admins are at some point. Zebra likes to taunt after some kills. Cinic rages hard at people in game.
The problem with an online "job" is that you have to do all of these things within the eye of each group you change modes with. I like the fact that the admins are fun, it makes them feel more approachable. However, if you have a problem, EVERY admin, including Cinic, will quickly switch to "work mode" and help you solve it. Then, if Bottiger needs to talk to them they have to switch to being his right hands. All of which is visible to everyone. The fact that they sometimes do things that does not agree with being an admin is how this has to work.
Cinic's way of playing the game and being with the community is just a louder way, but in NO WAY effects his performance. It's simple part of having this job.
