ITT: No one has ever heard of client mute.
Getting back on topic, I will have to agree with you. Anyone who thinks there should be a rule in place to mute anyone based soley on their age or the pitch of their voice needs to lighten up. Such a rule would make the group look like a bunch of pretentious douche bags; and believe me, nothing is worse in the gaming community than a group of people so arrogant that they think their age makes them special or superior.

From what I understand, there are rules in place that allow the admins to mute people that cross the line. But I would say something like this doesn't warrant any more the personal muting.

You gotta remember, who are you going to take more seriously, a 7 year old or 23 year old. Most people on the server wouldn't even listen to the 7 year old. Why? "Because he has no business here."
As true as that may be, that's actually no reason to ban or kick them, yet most people will start the vote. It's always those few bad apples that can ruin the whole orchard.

Well, it's technically illegal for the seven-year-old to be playing the game, but no one gives a fuck about the ESRB anyway.

That, and the fact that their parents are to blame too. "Hurr, Ima let mah 7 yeer old play sum bludee, goree game beecaws i let mah child espress himself over dah internetz."

So what youre saying is we should let a group of people that is illegal for them to play the game play on our servers?

I guess laws are flexible.

Lets see, allow anyone to play on Skial servers, (7-17 year olds to griefers and mic-spammers), or control who can and cannot play on said servers (act like complete douches to anyone we deem unacceptable)......

You guys are joking, right? Well I'm not quite sure what country you guys live in, but I know the server is based out of America, and it's bound by American law. So, you're wrong. You're very much wrong. It is illegal for a 7 year old to purchase an M-rated game. However, there is no law forbidding a child of any age from playing an "M" rated game.

Yes, although it is illegal for a 7 year old to buy M-rated games, who actually enforces it? That's when the problem starts.

Well, that wasn't actually my point. And to be quite honest, the people at all the game stores I've been to have been very stern with their "No selling M-games to minors" rule. Throughtout my entire childhood, I was not once able to slip an M-rated game past the cashier without my parents. But my point is this; there is no law that says that children can't play M-rated games. They can still buy and play them with the permission of a gaurdian.

Ah, I see, what you're saying now is that it's illegal for BOTTIGER and valve to allow acsess to an M rated game.

Your logic: There is no law forbidding a child from playing an M rated game, however it is illegal for a 7 year old to purchase a game an M rated game. Is it illegal for the children to do this or is it more practical that the retailers are responsible for providing the free content?

If its the ladder, then shouldn't steam have preventative measures to keep underage kids from buying or playing these games? Could we fit our servers with an addon that checks the user's birthday with their steam account and lock them out? It seems to me we are already being douchey by assuming we can let whoever we want play without worrying about the welfare of the children. That's plain irresponsible.

But who actually gives a crap about the welfare of the children? I do seeing as how I have a younger bro, but most people just play the game and ignore what they don't want to hear. They don't think about the consequences of what they say or do in any game. (ie. Stems when he rages on the server when there could possibly be a younger person playing the game)

Who gives a crap if we keep people out then? If you are willing to turn a blind eye to the safety and well being of kids who shouldn't be playing a game, why should I care if I want to keep them out the servers?
