'cause people are retarded and think since an item is retired it becomes 10x rarer and should sell for more

The price will soon likely drop because people are over their stupidity. It's like when the Quackenbridt first came out it was like 3 keys, but now it's only 1.66.

They went up because hat collectors and stuff want everything in the game. Plus, unobtainable through shop, crafting, and unboxing means that it's barely going to show up now so it's going to be uncommon and Valve is a complete dumbass for doing this.

Valve is brilliant for doing this. They found a way to stimulate trading without releasing new shitty items and probably made a few $ in the store after the announcement.

They made half my friends go insane in trying to get their hats.
I can somewhat agree with you, but making my friends go insane is just stupid. The prices thing too also pisses me off.

Your friends (like most people) probably didn't care about the hats before the announcement. Anyone who wanted these hats likely already had them.

And yeah it made everyone go crazy that was kinda they idea...

Meh. I've got a vintage fedora and I didnt get a single good offer for it.

Plus, I thought at first in like 6 months the price would spike again and stay there, but now.. eh. Its probably still going to be around 7-8 keys [for vintage.]

right after they went off the market people were asking 3 keys for fedoras
:(

I'm just going to sit on my hands until people calm down.
