Wasn't the plan already to re-release all the Star Wars movies in 3D?

I know I saw Episode 1 3D in theaters because hey, it only gets less worse from there, right?

It's going to be episode 7, about 10 or so years in the future surrounding events that involve the rebuilding of the republic. There are plenty of books out there to draw from, if nobody has ever heard of them. Episode 1-6 is only a fraction of the stories of the Star Wars universe.

I'm OK with this because Disney has a good track record. They bought Marvel and Avengers was a good movie as well as the others. Honestly, the Star Wars universe is so big, they can make movies with completely different parallel story lines telling others stories and then showing how they all come together. There's also all the other books which tell future stories. Also, Lucas isn't going to be at the helm and he said in the interview that he wants the SW legacy to carry on after him.

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH I hate it when film makers do that! they are just retconning to make it that "OH THE EMPIRE IS BACK LUKE MUST FIGHT VADER WHILE MICKEY MOUSE DANCES IN THE BACKGROUND!" They did it for Terminator 3 and they will do it for episode 7.

Well disney have got money to chuck into a project like this, cant see there being anything as big as the original SW trilogy coming from this, but even so, they got some powerful promotional tools in their arsenal.

There are so many books they could draw inspiration from, it'd be hard for them to make a bad movie.

Thank you, you're one of the few people I've met that knows there's more to the Star Wars universe than the movies and T.V. shows. Everyone forgets about the Old Republic prior to Episode 1 back when the Sith were plentiful and not in hiding. The post-Episode VI stuff is where I get fuzzy.

I haven't read any of the novels but people have told me things about them. I'm hoping Disney at least lets me get to see a sun crusher.
