Wtf does that mean? This system works with leaving rep. If your trade is legit why should you have to prove its legit if you left good rep for the trader? Be wary? How about no one leaves rep unless they speak to you first.
This whole rep deal is out of hand. Valve needs to be part of this IMO. The guy above trades on his end above board and gets a scammer tag because you have a hard on for the other guy?
This is another discussion for another thread, one which I'll gladly entertain. But let's keep the ban/appeal threads clean of unnecessary drama. If you want to open a thread in Trade Chat, please do.
For future reference, I'd like to see an attempt made to communicate with the person accused in this case. It wouldn't have been marked in the first place if he had be asked beforehand for the screenshot. It should be innocent until proven guilty, especially in a rep case like this.
100% of the people you ask would say "No, I did not leave fake rep". I guarantee you that.
So you're saying if I want to trade someone a scrap for a wep, I need to look them up on Steamrep to make sure they won't somehow scam me off my scrap right? So know I have to check everyone I trade, even though the trade is safe right?
I'd say this is typically only going to be reserved for people making high-value trades. Scrap isn't going to really help anybody make any real profits. However, when you're making legitimate trades of buds/unusuals with known scammers, you're allowing them to continue making a profit on their ill-gotten goods (even if yours are legitimate), and encouraging these people to continue making trades, and continue scamming. It damages the trading communities severely when people have incentive to continue making high-value trades and ripping people off. See Del Piero for an excellent example of how this works.
What's this 'we' stuff. If I choose to deal with a scammer that's on me. If there is enough blowback on a player Valve will put a trade ban in place. I don't need your advice or overview on a trade I would like to make.
The fact of the matter is that "we" are playing by a certain set of rules, and following a certain standard. SR does a pretty good job keeping servers and forums free of scammers with their meticulously planned rules and requirements. It's not a bad die to cast our own policies in.
I just want to know, why in my case that was very similar to DrPerchu, I finished with a Caution Tag saying I gave Fake Rep and he with no Tag at all. I sent proof of the trade like him as well. And I didnt knew the guy was impersonating someone else. Xel didnt answered my msg asking about that Caution Tag now I carry because of this same misunderstanding.
Yours is going to stay as CAUTION for a little bit because it was more recent. Perchu's was from several months back, and doesn't necessarily
matter at this point.
Requesting a lock on this thread for now, since OP's appeal has been discussed and the case is now closed. If anybody wants to continue this discussion, please open a new thread in Trade Chat and we can discuss the matter further. I mean this sincerely, because if people think that my admittedly zealous tagging lately is out of line, let's all get together and agree on a standard to be following.
