Hey guys, the first thing I thought of when I heard about the sandvich nerf was, "Man, I hope skial puts in a plugin to undo that.". I'm cautious in this opinion because I know I benefit from a good sandvich more than most players, but from what I've been hearing people generally dislike the change. Well guess what - a plugin exists to revert it.

The plugin is here. I'd like to get your input on this before I start badgering Bottiger to implement it. Should we get the old sandvich back?

Sandvich got nerfed because it was broken in Medieval Mode. No one throws a sandvich for themselves in other game modes. But in Degroot, it made Heavy nigh invincible.

Heavy is overpowered already, takes literally no skill to play it and all his vanilla weaknesses were wiped out with the GRU and the Tomislav. Now you want to give his health pack back? On what grounds?

I dont really know what medieval mode is, but I can tell you I threw plenty of butty's for myself.

Heavy can still heal himself to full with sandvich. He just can't throw it on the ground and eat it for a quick 150 health. If he picks it up, it replenishes the food bar.

:p

But seriously, why nerf the sandvich in the first place? It isn't that overpowered. I saw many Heavies getting killed while eating the Sandvich. Oh, and don't forget the cooldown. In my opinion, it is a balanced item.

No, that part stays. But you can't throw it down for yourself and pick it up for an instant 150 hp any more, which is just fair, since the other classes have like half his hp and they dont carry a medpack with them.

As I mentioned previously, throwing Sandvich for himself made him nigh unkillable in Degroot.

I have to agree with you, but I was talking about a Control Point, Payload, KOTH or an Arena mode match.

In those matches, Heavy will usually find a shady spot and get full health back, assuming he's not got a pocket doc. The throw function for Sandvich was intended originally to let Heavy keep his buddy healed. In that respect, it's a helpful change because, if heavy accidentally steps on Sandvich, the Food counter resets so he can throw it again.

I hate people who say heavy takes no skill. I don't even play it and I can tell you that's wrong.
If you can't play as the guys with the giant minigun without 600 health, play a different game.

But what if the Heavy drops the sandvich to restore health? Will the sandvich counter resets?

Learning how to spin up your minigun in air takes 10 seconds, after that please explain it to me how else can you improve as a heavy? You either move or shoot, you don't even need to bother doing the two together (I don't consider crawling with a spinning minigun moving), not like you're airblasting, puff'n'stinging, rocket- or stickyjumping to the exact spot you want to land on, quickscoping, generally playing a scout and so on, what actually need a lot of practice.
