Seriously, there's nothing more satisfying than getting together with your friends to take down a giant sand-dragon.

I just hate it when kids with greatswords join the game and knock everybody off the boat because they don't know what they're doing.

Try 40 if you're soloing.
Just make sure somebody has a sleep lance and you're good to go.

40 minutes? Easy.
I've lost count of the times my timer has run out, actually.
If your party D/Cs and you're already 20 minutes in, even if you're just there to inflict status ailments, it's better to try and finish it off than give up.

How am I the only one so far who has listed Tetris?

I probably have more hours played of that game over the course of my life than any other. If I was on a desert island, that would be the game I took.

MH3 is a great game. Personally never liked ailment weapons however... I go for raw damage, keeping a set of every element available to me on the 3 weapons I use to counter all elemental weaknesses.
Also, LoZ Majora's Mask (Fierce Deity ftw!)
