Stoopid Hat

Scarcely Lethal Noob
It seems to be a bit bugged. Here's an example: earlier there was a kid on the mic screaming at the top of his lungs, so I decided to open up the ol votemenu and vote to mute him. 7 votes for yes, 2 for no and somehow the vote didn't pass. If that's intentional then sorry for bugging you but I still think it needs to be revised.

This suggestion has been closed. Votes are no longer accepted.
Most likely most people didn't vote at all... so the percentage of "yes" votes to players was below 50% (or whatever percent is needed to mute, I know ban is 90%)

That's a bit flawed isn't it? I mean the ones who did vote should be the only party that should matter.

Maybe, just two things however...

  1. If that many people didn't care enough to vote then the person obviously wasn't bothering them and/or if there are only 7 people who vote yes then there are 7 people who could have client muted him.
  2. This is why we have a report feature. For when /votemenu fails.

Yeah theoreticaly it should be a % of counted votes. you will not get everyone to vote however, so those not voting need to be counted as 'no'
Its a % of the server that needs to express an opinion, or else you could end up with 2 yes votes on a 24 player server and a ban being set by 2 friends (just an example)
Maybe there should be a threshold of yes votes, say 10 yes regardless of no's but even then, you get people pressing yes without thinking, or by accident.

I am pretty sure it is a percent of the votes. I don't think it counts people who don't vote.

The reason we have the percent so high is so it cannot be easily abuse. Even if it is abuse, you need more than majority for it to actually pass. I think votemute is 75% of the votes being yes, and bans are 91% of the votes being yes.

It isn't bugged, and there is nothing wrong with it. If the majority doesn't want him muted, simply do a client mute on him.
