That can't be it. There are not that many valve servers.

I'm not at my computer so I can't check recently. But if valve feels threatened that communities servers are getting popular than that's just stupid. They shouldn't of removed most of their servers that forced other people to find non valve servers to begin with.

If they don't like certain communities like killstreak, they should blacklist them from quickplay. Problem is people can easily change their information and valve is too lazy to keep an eye on it.
I think the problem is because people get banned from community servers and they try to use the quickplay feature it trys to join you to a server but all it says is you are banned so im sure valve has had complaint after complaint of there quick play feature not working. Valve servers are basically no rules and only enforcement is a vac ban.

I mean its not like Valve actually cares about the TF2 community. Its essentially just a money-printing machine for them regardless of what they do.

Slap a valve logo on that and shop gaben's face on the guy. You have it all there gents.

I remember hearing people complaining that all of Valve's servers were repurposed to Mann-Up. maybe they're trolling them by having only one server for each Quickplay mode. "Want a Valve server? hope you don't mind waiting an hour or two for a chance at an open slot"

Actually valve has added a lot of the servers back. There are several hundred of them now.

Edit: Actually counted a little better, this is a roughish estimate, but there are nearly 1000 valve servers now.

A few weeks ago I want to play a valve server to feel good about myself and I couldn't find any... Are they back or what?

I just realized something. Quickplay changes won't effect Jailbreak at all! REJOICE SKIAL ADMINS, YOUR BELOVED WILL CHANGE NOT

Recounted, the number of valve servers is 918.

Ahh well they must of added those recently because of this update.

Still, assuming they are 24 slot servers. 24x918 = 22,032. There are currently 44,237 people playing tf2 and the peak today was 61,373.
If they are all 32 slot servers 32x918 = 29,376.

They don't have enough servers to support the amount of players. I know not everyone uses quickplay, but common that a big difference of player/slot ratio. If they bleed all the 3rd party servers out to where we all have to shut down than Valve is the only place left. They need a shit ton more servers.

I don't see how this is making them more money. It doesn't seem like a money making scheme. They still have to pay for the servers, that is probably pennies compared to their income though.

If they wanted to make free money they should charge server owners monthly to be an "official valve server" for quickplay.

Ohh, I re-read the OP and is says "Add quickplay option to only connect to official Valve servers"

I am currently moving so I cannot check. But I think this means you can choose whether or not you want to connect to only valve servers. If that is the case, I think we are not as bad off as I originally thought.

There are people out there that know servers like Skial are better because of constant administration of the servers. Something I don't think valve has.

Yeah awesome. I think we will be fine.
The only thing is that it is checked by default. So new TF2 players will be less likely to join our servers, because they'll probably won't be eager to turn the option off.

However I hope this won't hurt us too badly.

At least I can go back to "shitty" valve servers to pub stomp when I want to feel like a winner
