If there wasn't much story to be had with those games they wouldn't have made all those manga adaptions.

Also if he used that "t-they had some of the second gen pokemon in the first game b-but scrapped them" argument then he's bad at life.

Just finished watching it, but the shitty weeaboo translator felt the need to use the Japanese names for the Pokemon, so I had to put up with "Lizardo" and "Kamex" instead of Charizard and Blastoise. The animation was really good though, they should do more stuff like this.
