Just getting into cooking? Stir fry dishes are really easy and really yummy. So are roasts... and its awfully hard to screw up anything that you braise.

But if you haven't done much before I'd suggest looking on youtube for some good instructional technique videos. Knife work and stuff. I'm still working on that part =P

Also. Eggs. You can always tell a good cook from a bad cook based on how well they can cook an egg.

Apple Turnovers. They aren't burnt... that's just cinnamon sugar on top.

For something so small you would not believe what a huge pain these were to make. The dough took literally hours to make and I was fighting the heat the entire time. I considered using frozen puff pastry but NERP... homemade is where it's at.

I now have mad respect for these tiny little treats.
