Temp Banned on TF2 Server

I was recently temporarily banned from the US Saxton Hale server for being a "friendly" Saxton Hale. I was banned by "Killerzebra". I was not the only person who was banned for such a thing. I also know that "mike-kirby" was banned. I find this extremely annoying that I would be banned for such a silly thing like that. And, if I recall correctly, I had in fact started attacking and killing other players, thus not being "friendly". There is a time limit for a reason, and I would like to ensure that this does not happen in the future. Only one person had complained about this, and had started reporting all who were "friendly" in his eyes. A one day ban is not horrible, but I would like to see that this doesn't happen in the future. Again, only one person had complained, many others always are friendly, I wasn't being friendly, and even if I was, there is a TIME LIMIT for a reason.

EDIT: Okay, the thing is, I don't even know if it's against the rules to be friendly, and also, I wasn't.
If somehow I am mistaken, please correct me.

Being "Friendly" counts as griefing.
If you want to have a tea party go to a trade server

Well, then sorry for not knowing it was griefing. I assumed that since it is very common and happens all the time that it was allowed. I guess I shouldn't assume like that.. Also, if I do recall correctly, I HAD killed a couple people, but whatever, I guess. I don't want to go back to that. And also, please excuse me for being a moron and not knowing about this. I guess I won't be friendly anymore and have learned my lesson. Although I wonder: is it "griefing" if you are a player (non-hale) that is being friendly? As in, not attacking the Hale, but letting yourself be attacked? Either way, I probably won't be friendly in any way, shape, or form anymore. Also, can I maybe please be unbanned since I had no idea that this was against the rules and I won't do it again? I spend 99% of my time on that server, and would hate to not be able to use it for most of tomorrow (11:00 PM here).

I'm not looking to be confrontational, but I must ask how you weren't aware being a friendly hale wasn't griefing? Some players go in there to actually play the game, when you don't kill people whether you're hale or not - people who are dead have to sit there and wait out while you dick around. Think about it from the perspective of someone who actually wants to play the game.

and in answer to your question as people being "friendly" on a real server - I've seen Zebra ban people for civilian demoman and such...and even if he didn't; most people who die on normal servers do not stay dead until the end of the round so it's not nearly as annoying. But yes, people do get actioned for not participating on regular servers too.

It's ultimately Zebra's call, but I do hope he decides against it since you blatantly tried to lie instead of be honest in your initial post, a day time out might teach you a lesson of honesty.
 
I can understand I may be annoying when it comes to reporting every friendly, however I don't. I only report if the person knows deliberately being friendly, even if he knows it's delaying the game. I made sure you knew I was going to report you, yet you continued.

As for me being the annoying one, I probably am, to the people who are supporting you. As for others, your preventing action, and people will just leave (or it is how I imagine it). As for my bitching, I guess it can stop. I want to let the person know that I will report him if he doesn't continue. I don't want to just brute force report, otherwise I might actually get a innocent person (who doesn't know about the rule), in which case I actually care about the community, even if they are causing harm.

I wanted to thank Mutton for holding my back when people kept calling me a fag for being so report happy, which in reality, I only report people who want to cause trouble, (or maybe not trouble, but wants to manipulate the game for thier fun).

As Antamania stated, go onto a trade server if you want to have a "Tea Party."
Also, think from the perspective of the players who just want to fucking play, kay?

Also, Thank you for starting that false voteban that almost worked.
I'm suprised your not punished anymore then one day.

Well, I didn't say that I actively started killing everyone I saw, but I wasn't completely friendly. It wasn't a complete lie because I did in fact kill a few. Although, I guess that might make me even more guilty, because they have to wait. Although, I don't think it's that bad to wait around 5 or 6 minutes. :/ I myself have the patience to wait when people are friendly, but I suppose some people do not. I guess I understand that I am guilty, and I won't do it again. In my opinion, since I would kill non friendlies, people could just attack me and I would attack back (if the majority wanted to have me non friendly. When I kill the majority as a "friendly", I just go on and finish them all off). Although I guess that means some non friendlies would have to wait since they would be dead. Again, sorry. I just didn't know it was against the rules. I haven't ever seen it being enforced, and some people just like to have fun that way. I supposed since only one person was complaining, it wouldn't be too bad. I guess I am at fault. I think people should actually be warned in advance, but whatever, I guess. That is all.

EDIT: Sorry, Persona. I had thought you were trying to troll or something and were abusing the report. Again, I hadn't thought it wasn't against the rules. Many people just like to annoy others by threatening to report, or use it to get what they want. But, honestly, I thought THIS was the reason they added the timelimit!
EDIT2: Oh and Zebra, (in regards to chatlogs) we had this thing going that heavies were supposed to be friendly and saved for last to kill or something like that. Everyone had agreed, and we were pretty much using that in all of the rounds. Then someone came along and had refused to conform with what we had done. I was trying to support what had been going on... Also, if we report and ban everyone who wants to be friendly, how many people will there be left? I'm guessing at LEAST 30-40% of people use friendly at some point in time.

The timelimit doesn't mean you have to waste 5 to 6 minutes of our time!
The timelimit is still exploitable with the cap, which luckly (thank god) not many friendly hales abuse.
Plus, the timelimit was added to make it so friendly hales lose thier hale in 7 minutes anyways.

The timelimit is only a buffer, and will not prevent friendlys.
Just because you have "7 minutes" to muck around, doesn't mean you should use your 7 minuets "being friendly". It again, prevents action, makes the game look very boring to the people who want to play.
I "abusing" the report? I only reported twice, for 2 different people, both of which were 2/3'ds. Of course that always prevents any reports, but ohwell, I can manually do it.
And to be honest, that "30-40" percent feel like breaking the rules, so it would make the game even better if they left, even if they contribute thier time playing hale correctly.
They need to be warned about breaking the rule, and if they continue, well ban them.

As for the friendly heavys and stuff, I'm not aware if I should report them or not. It isn't as game breaking as being a friendly is.
There are people who are new, and want to play the server, (if they see no action happening, what do you think they will do?). There is some possibility in netgain if there would be
more action, and not more friendlys.

And if they want to not kill anyone, then they should goto a server made for it.
Think of a friendly as a troll, no? So that is my plan, to alert friendly hales that what they are doing is bad, and if they do not stop, I will report them.
It isn't some anti-gay movement where I am constantly spreading the word. I actually have fun playing hale, the chat logs I have are to prove it. (Atleast I am very into the game :p)
I hope this message reaches out to all the Saxton Hale players we have, but sadly it won't.

I am actually truly sorry. The thing is, I thought you were just reporting me because you didn't like what I was doing, not that it was against the rules. NOW I know that I shouldn't be friendly anymore. Now I see that you weren't abusing the report. It's just that I didn't know. Instead of just saying: "I'm gonna report if you don't stop." You should've told me that it was in fact against the rules. I would have then stopped, and no ban would have been needed. Again, I am truly sorry, but I didn't know. @Antamania - Yes, I WAS in fact apologizing. I was just stating my opinion. Alas, now I know. So can we just end this I guess? I hadn't known, and that's it. SORRY.
