Skial of all things has an ELO system now (and I wasted lots of time digging around it)

on their own dedicated website for giving you player stats like K/D, how many times you market gardened, how many rounds you won as BLU and allat, they added a new ELO system. What is really interesting to me is that they took the stats of everyone who has ever played on their servers from 2013, and managed to calculate what their skill was on those servers using TrueSkill 2.

They clarified that this ELO system only works on Payload and Attack/Defend so yeah it won't do anything on CTF

now elo in a server with no strict matchmaking or balance changes like Uncletopia doesn't really matter in the long run, but is very interesting to see how the system managed to calculate people who dropped off of Skial years ago. I used an alt account to get at least one round in to see where my starting ELO would be and it threw me at 1483. Given the 10.6 million unique players Skial has recorded, 1400-1600 ELO is very likely to be below to above average, like Top 30% down to bottom 50% esp considering the likely graveyard of accounts that lost interest immediately (and bots....)

But this number starts to shift once you get the auto clicker out on their all-time rating leaderboard to click several thousand pages down to 2000 ELO, 1900 ELO, and 1800 ELO. Note that because of how long it started to take to load the pages I started to give up at certain points and started estimating.

2000 ELO starts somewhere in the 130Ks.

1900 starts somewhere between 220K to 260K.

1818 which is my ELO I found was at 351K.

Every one hundred ELO points starting from 1800 you go from Top 3.6-3.9%, to Top 2.1-2.5%, to Top 1.2-1.3%. Someone with 1800 ELO is still better than 97% of everyone who has historically played on a Skial objective server.

1700 ELO all the way down to 1500 I estimate is probably a climb to Top 7%.

so why bring any of this up?

Skial has given everyone a *HISTORICAL* bragging rights machine even if they only played on a Payload or Dustbowl server once. And while it is a bitch to actually navigate because of how long it takes to start querying several thousand auto-clicked pages, it works. Check your profile now and see if you're even above 1700 ELO, that's already above average instantly. You can waste time auto-clicking and wait like 20 minutes if you want to verify rankings for yourself, but I can pretty much guarantee it's accurate. That way you can have mixed feelings about having 1900 ELO after 3 hours of Vanilla playtime but still tell people you're the boss afterward
