Somewhat Threatening Sniper
Skial currently has around 90 tf2 servers while it has a total staff for not even a third of that. Creating a moderator rank for the tf2 servers would allow a greater staff presence and better handling of rule-breaking.
I've spoken with many regulars on skial servers, and what should come as no surprise many haven't ever seen any action taken by an admin or in some cases have never seen an admin. Regulars also seem to agree that rule-breaking happens often on skial servers and little tends to be done about it. Some regulars have even had experiences where they've reported players for breaking rules and no admins even checked it out. Some regulars don't even see a point in reporting rule-breaking as a result. Having a decent amount of moderators who would be expected to play on the skial servers regularly would help remedy this in that they would hopefully be there while or very soon after rule-breaking and be able to take action immediately.
Almost daily I see people using racism, spamming, dodging the votemute or voteban by using a different account, as well as many other ways of breaking the rules. And these are just the times I happen to be playing. Again, a moderator rank and a resulting increase in staff presence would help counteract this.
A moderator rank would have a lower permission level than the admins on the server. They don't need to have as much power as admins do on the server and should report things that are happening to an admin who directly outranks them. Having less power would hopefully result in a less intensive and less time-consuming application process for moderators and at the same time make the admin application process easier by having a pool of moderators to draw from in order to promote to admin status if needed. This will hopefully result in more useful staff applications to fill the moderator spots as it should be more attainable and more probationary than an admin position.
I won't go into the exact process of evaluating moderator applications because that is probably something that admins should discuss and decide, but if an example is needed I could elaborate further. However, it should definitely involve more actual supervision and observation as opposed to questions and hypothetical situation.
I'll leave with that for now as I don't want to make this too lengthy. Feedback and further suggestion is appreciated as well as any support anyone is willing to give. Thank you for your consideration.
