Increasing school hours won't do much. Hiring teachers that are actually decent and not some underpaid doesn't give two fucks about their job person would help a lot more.

Hell, even when I was in school I always over heard some of the teachers saying this.

Got 30 hours a week here in Finland and it's one of the best countries to study in.

Live in California :) there was a bill that was going to reduce school hours but it did not pass

That's fine, but I think the old "Quality vs. Quantity" needs to be in play here as well. There are plenty of good teachers out there and there are also a lot just biding their time until retirement. So there are going to be those teachers still not giving a f*ck, just for longer periods now:p . Should be somewhat interesting to see how it plays out.

I would wager to bet my town's school in CT will be part of the pilot. Thankfully I'm not in school anymore.

Sux for those states is pretty much what I can say, there are many reasons why they should be extended hours and not because school sucks..

I wouldn't have minded being at school more if it meant less homework. Teachers would just dick around with projector slides half the period and kill time until it ended but never let us get a head start on homework.

Can't wait until I can afford college and have a second helping of that.

Of course, it's fucking CT. Hopefully it won't be my school in the pilot program since it's already performing well. But I fear it's only a matter of time. I already wake up an hour earlier than I did in middle school and I leave school at the same time that I did in middle school. There is not enough time left at the end of my day for sleeping well. I fall asleep on the couch when I get home for a few hours. Who knows, maybe increasing school hours would lead to less sleep, which has been proven to lower your brain power throughout the day. This time increase could have an adverse effect.

You may be a furry, but after seeing most of your comments (overall on Skial) I can say I love you.

In high school I woke up at 6am and my bus came around 6:50. School started at 7:20ish. We got out at 2 so I could foresee them adding an extra hour per day there since for middle school it would probably mess up dinner for some people.
