Other thread got locked before any common sense was written. I think it worthwile to review hardcore versus softcore nudity. I think most ofbthe population is ok with nips and even full frontal. Ass sex by two men is just horrendous and even the animal harcore is not of normal consumption. I seen sexism brought up numerous times but this gets a pass?

Ok on the rules but a voting option for sprays with a day ban would get the point across with what is acceptable and what isn't. I still feel if even a few gamers, especially females, are taken back by the extreme content it should be looked at and not closed after 4 pages of no real debate.

If I was the father of a teenage girl and seen that level of graphic nudity in a game my ass would have an email written to Skial, Valve and the decency board of my state at a minimum. Currently I don't and my motivation other than this post is not being pushed.

If i was a father i wouldn't let my teenage girl play a rated M game if she couldn't handle it. In this day though she has already had sex at 14 there is nothing on TF2 she hasn't seen / heard of already. If she can't handle a Rated M game and i am still stubborn enough to let her play, i would disable sprays.

Seriously it is just porn. I really don't care about that stuff and i will never ban someone over posting it.
 
I don't think when TF2 got its rating those hardcore sprays were part of it. If so, Valve would have left a few in place for quick use........as far as when they had sex or didn't or that u can get porn on the web should have nothing to do with this subject. Last I checked playboy doesn't sell to 15 year olds because they can find it on the web. There are players from other countries on a few of these servers. Our capacity for porn may be a bit more than theirs.

Its tough for me to argue what I wrote with teenagers that need these type of sprays to play a game.
 
Quick Google search shows porn sprays in HL2: DM. Also rated M. HL2: DM came out before TF2, meaning that somehow Valve probably knew this was feasible.

You know, like when you allow people to upload their own content to the game.

Anyhow, not budging on the porn sprays. We'll take care of the illegal ones appropriately, but if you want porn sprays removed, I'll need your parent or guardian to fill out a permission slip, then I'll give you a config that disables sprays.

Or just go in the options and do it yourself. Don't need a config for it
 
alright, let's think about this from a workload perspective.

Right now the only things banned as far as sprays go are things that are illegal to posses. Basically childporn. Maybe bestiality. Maybe.

I have seen one person be banned due to this rule.

alright, so what makes a broader rule difficult?
One, there is no illegality, AND no immoral actions behind the sprays.
Two, Sprays can be 100% disabled client side. It will always work.
Three, sprays can be moved around willy nilly
four, some admins may not see all sprays, valve is good at glitchy optional content.
five, there are many admins. Your definition of hardcore may not be shared.
six, there aren't that many admins. how many sprays do you think would go by unnoticed because there will never be enough admins for this huuuuuge job.
7. there is no real record of sprays for admins to just cruise through to look for violations.
 
So much reply.......workload isn't an issue. Let the voting system give a one day ban. Why do you feel I'm asking anyone to overly moderate the servers. I asked for you to try and seprate a pair of tits from ass sex. Big difference unless your a freak. You can keep everything the way it is with some emphasis to the community that the more harcore there is less of a tolerance.

Disabling sprays keeps coming up. That's like saying if you don't like the elderly driving.....don't drive? WTF is that.

Also a mature rating for violence is a lot different than a rating for hardcore. So stop with that. I read the ratings. M is sexual content which may include partial nudity. A is for graphic sexual content which is the reason for this thread.

I think the point is that there's enough that there will be varying opinion, but not enough to handle the workload of a broader rule.

Also, lol locking again. We've already make our opinion clear. If you don't like it, tough cookies. Turn off sprays or go to a server that doesn't allow anything hardcore. There are none that I know of, and if there are, it's probably rarely enforced because 99% of people don't care.
 
Perhaps you should make a thread about a suggestion for "Inappropriate Spray" in the vote menu.

We all know how well our voting system works. There's only a handful of people that care about this. Most people either don't care or like it, so there's no point in making a rule against it. The driving analogy is a terrible one because I think a majority of people that aren't elderly don't want them driving unlike this case where only 5 people out of a community of 200,000 give a shit.
