As many of our dedicated forum regulars and forum lurkers may know, one of our returning server regulars, Dave The Manly, created an admin app for Skial's TF2 servers. The admin app, after a few posts, started skyrocketing downhill.

In my honest opinion, Dave voiced his case that he should be an admin in a well organized and professional way, using the format that most Skial admin apps use, and the thread was locked before enough valid opinions could be logged. The majority of the thread was Dave conversing with assorted members of the forum (Who will not be pointed out or listed.) back an forth, with Dave defending his admin app and the others pointing out even the most minute details in an attempt to sway others in their favor.

I myself would like to voice my opinion, and I'm sure many others would like to as well, so that's why I am petitioning for the thread to be unlocked. If a moderator sees this thread and feels it belongs in a more appropriate section, please move it. If not, leave it where it lies.

This is stupid. He declined it. He said why he did...why do we need to discuss it further?

Bottiger did not decline it, Zebra did, if you'll review the thread.

And I personally feel that opinions, like my own, were left out of the thread, and could turn the tide of it.

Dave's just like the rest of the people that have applied for admin with the correct format, he deserves to be heard. If we can't give him that respect, then we can't give it to anyone.

You should share your opinion, but in the end it's only up to Bottiger, and no one else. Bottiger declined it and gave specific reasons why. There's literally nothing to discuss.

While I appreciate the thought, I'm pretty sure there's going to be no changing Botty G's mind here. If he thinks I'm not fit to be an admin based on how I used to be, that's entirely up to him.

You can talk about if it you feel like it, I'm just saying the decision was already made.

Then I will continue to discuss. I value your opinion, even though I disagree with it. I'm not going to throw your opinion out the window with a flair of "o, u r a fgt, lelelel XD", because that's immature and a poor way to go about it. We're mostly adults here, and I'll be damned if we don't discuss it like adults.

IIRC no one has thrown out anyone's opinion like that. I respect your opinion, I'm just saying it's decided already.

It got declined. No

I understand your a Forum Moderator and everything, and I respect your opinion, but I'd like to hear it from himself before I stop pursuing this argument.

That's fine, I thank you for the appreciation. I honestly felt you were treated unfairly in your admin app and was hoping to right an unjust wrong. If Bottiger gives it a "No.", then that'll be that.

I didn't lock the thread. But since you are pressing the matter hard, I will make the full reasons for his decline known as I am sure the public will support our decision to decline his application for the foreseeable future.
  • He was a problem both on and off the forums for a period of half a year. I removed his rating privileges twice.

  • Unhappy with his punishments, he decided to leave Skial to try to start his own servers, and hosted by a KSG member.
  • When that failed he came back only a couple months ago. So far he is much more improved. But I will decide when he is ready, not him.
  • As pointed out by KillerZebra he only played JB for 2 days for the past 10 days.
So I hope you can understand that we have very good reasons for declining the application.

Thank you, that's all I wanted: a legitimate and genuine reasoning as to why Dave The Manly was not becoming of an admin. He's made mistakes in the past, but so have all of us. I could list a few Skial members who we respect and value to this day that were once in Dave's shoes, and look at them now.

But that's beside the point, you can go ahead an lock this. Maybe in the future Dave will have a better shot at becoming an admin.

Not that I disagree with anything else you've just posted, I just wanted to point out that I had Boom before KSG had Welzyyy, and that the founding of Dominion had nothing to do with my punishments on Skial, and instead it was to try to create positive relations with SR.

Shh, don't try and break the circlejerk.

You can paint it however you wish, but I doubt you would've bothered with that if you felt you had a shot at admin here.

It wasn't Boom/Wezly's relationship to KSG that I am worried about mainly, but rather the fact that you are inclined to go start your own competing community.

It is nice that you aren't causing problems anymore, but 2 months of good behavior doesn't cancel out 6-8 months of bad behavior.
