Alright so after having stayed up till nearly 2 in the morning to be able to play ptr i have a couple of things to say about the update.

Mccree might be one of the very best heroes in the game because of his buff and can be nearly unstoppable with a high skilled player, though it is ptr so i've seen very little from tanks who would be able to deal with him.

Mercy's buff to her right click is the stupidest thing they've done in this update. Like seriously, it's fucking insanely op. Mccree can one shot headshot nearly all non-tank characters when damage buffed if he's at the right range. Pharah can one shot in the same way if he hits a target with a dh. Seriously has no idea why they thought it needed a buff, it was just the right amount of damage pre-buff and she was already one of the strongest heroes in the game, there was no need to add any sort of compensation for the nerf to her charge rate.

Zenyatta's buffs are all really nice though I feel the buff to his ultimate's speed was a little unnecessary.

The one second difference on d.va's ultimate is actually huge, seen a lot more frags from it during my time playing, and the defense matrix can now be used a bit unpredictably, so that's nice.
Otherwise a pretty sound update. Most of this stuff is pretty alright but in her current state mercy is stupid op.

How does comp work exactly, as in when a player leaves. The first time I saw the message when a player left almost everyone of my team left but I thought "well I just wait the minute and then it won't count so harsh", but after that minute it said it will now count as a loss. Now when I try to leave in the minute it says you'll remain 75% of your xp gained and stuff. What should you do when your team rage quits?

Jeff (and some other Blizzard people) played a bunch of games on Ster's stream while doing Q&A. VOD here:https://www.twitch.tv/ster/v/77919999

Some things worth noting:

  • In the next PTR patch, Mercy's damage boost percentage is getting reverted back to what it was (instead of 50%). Discussion of the mercy damage boost happens starting at around 10:30 in the vid.

  • They are looking closely at how Zenyatta feels in the PTR, and will reduce his total HP to 175 if 200 is too much.

  • The bug with Ana shots giving a friendly Zarya charge is getting fixed

  • New comic with more backstory about Ana is coming very soon

  • They have 4 new maps being worked on right now, but note that not all of them may see the light of day

  • The are working on new game modes, but the first new map (coming "soonish") will have a standard mode

  • New skins are coming before the end of summer

  • It sounded like they may want to try hero stacking again in season 2, but they didn't actually explicitly say that

  • For season 2 they are getting rid of coin flip (I think this was already known)

  • For season 2 they are also trying to reduce how long competitive matches take, which means you'll probably have shorter attack times at the very least

  • They are going to add the ability to see ally health bars for all heroes (but not silhouettes through walls). It isn't coming in this next patch, but it sounds like they will do it pretty soon.

  • They confirmed the hitbox changes, and said they were mostly trying to address how people could get hit when hidden behind a corner. They explained the reasoning for the big hitboxes, which is that in a game with such tiny fast-moving heroes and projectile weapons, it would be incredibly frustrating to hit those characters if they didn't have bigger hitboxes, making the game feel bad (and making those fast/tiny heroes crazy overpowered!

thank god for the nerf to mercy, and hopefully it doesn't get to the point where zenyatta will get nerfed, though i see 175 being okay.

First competing game of today.

We attack first. We Legit pushed the payload all the way in like 2 mins.
I think defense is going to be easy.
A dude leaves our team
We lose
I lose an entire rank of exp
