Because the average person is not very smart and would rather gossip about some famous person's pregnancy than actual issues that matter
Every time I go to the supermarket, I do my best to avoid looking at the magazines they sell at the cash register, People, the Inquirer and all that shit, because it just makes me so goddamn mad
I miss seeing Weekly World News in those racks.
"Celebrity bullshit"
"Celebrity bullshit"
"Celebrity bullshit"
"Bigfoot/Alien Hybrids meet with President Bush"
"Celebrity bullshit"

Just finished watching this semi documentary on space. I love space and find it really interesting. Just not smart enough to be a cosmologist or a physicist :(

Why do people focus on stupid ass celebrities when we have things like this around?

Well, we do have a lot of pack animal behaviour in our nature, so it's pretty natural for us to pay attention to those above us and treat them more valuable than the rest. Most sees celebrities as a dream, as someone on the top, making them (for some people) a sort-of pack leader.

That's what's wrong, the pack leaders are chosen by the media, not through a natural selection process. I think more and more people are seeing through it though, as they are being made aware of the way the media operates and they start to see behind the scene and notice the strings on those puppets and the hands of politicians and corporations making them dance.

I miss seeing racks in those Weekly World News
fixed.

Not sure how much of this is accurate, but I thought this was really interesting, scale wise. +1 for the Freddy Mercury/David Bowie insert. I live near where the Edmund Fitzgerald went down, so I like this kind of stuff.

The sea's abyss always scared the fuck out of me D:
But wonderful nontheless, I'd love more than anything to explore it and find new species of fish and whatnot!
So would my dad lolol he used to work with Cousteau, was the submarine engineer or something

So people can scuba dive in lower depths than nuclear submarines? Wat

U.S. Military nuclear sub generally dives to 243 meters whereas the deep sea diving record for a person in deep sea scuba gear is 318 meters. The military won't acknowledge the actual depth that a nuclear sub can submerge though.

Amazing underwater caves

Photographer Anatoly Beloshchin’s photo series of Cenote Angelita (‘Little Angel’) in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula:
ZR0SFtj.jpg

an apparent ‘river’ in a collapsed limestone cenote cave formed by a phenomenon known as halocline.

According to Beloshchin, Cenote Angelita is fresh water until a depth of about 29m.

There’s then a 1m layer of hydrogen sulphide, below which the entire base of the cave is filled with a dense layer of saltwater 30m to 60m deep.

This saltwater layer is the ‘river’.

That is awesome.
I've always wanted to go dive at one of those, it just has to feel so surreal!
Also, scuba diving in itself is such an amazing experience, I only did it a few times but really want to do it again!

My father in law was a diver for the army corps of engineers for years. He did a lot of neat dives with that big brass helmet. My ex dives as well, but I am not keen on deep water although I have been snorkeling in Mexico.
