Old method that happens a lot just with different fake websites. Came along soon after people wised up about steamcomurnty links and the such, also take the link out of your post so people don't accidentally click on it.

I would highly suggest removing part of that link so people don't accidentally click it.

I've had two of these happen since last year and it was presented as "explain these photos (link)".

Yeah i was doing that as you replied LOL
lol good on ya
Just don't click any links to websites you've never heard of. Things like imgur and Youtube are safe. Also don't trust links even from trusted friends because there is always a possibility that they got phished and it's almost happened to me like that before.

I get them all the time

They started to change to "ermahgerd click dis image link!" lately it seems

To be honest, If i see a friend invite and they have a private profile.. I just ignore them. Simple enough. Unless it's someone I know trying to add me and happens to have a private profile.

So a really odd coincidence just happened, I just got a phish link from a FB friend a few minutes after read this thread.

No social site is safe for me.

To be fair, you never know what is a phishing link or not unless:
  • It's been reported frequently
  • Your security picks it up
So that might not be a phishing link.

I typed in fbuglyz.com without the extension on chrome and this is the window I got.

Even without this conformation it was obvious it was a phish since she never types like that. She always punctuates and capitalizes properly.

Ya see, that I didn't know but it's good that you took it into account.

Not a new scam. Been around for a couple of years including fake steamcommunity links, fake teamspeak/vent/mumble download. Just be vigilant :)

Has this scam decreased with the new rules for adding friends on new accounts? It makes Steam itself look so bad when anytime you post your username, you get added by 4-5 level 0 accts all giving you malicious links.

Yes it has. I haven't had an add relative to phishing adds or attempts for quite some time myself. The phishers at this point are now becoming more dependent as they require someone to actually fall for the attempt as those accounts meet the requirements.
