hello, i recently made a new map for saxton hale servers, it has a cube-like layout but it is pretty good for all the classes, the idea was to create a military outpost, could sound familiar because we already have military area,but the map and the layout itself are different. with this post i'll upload some screenshots and the map itself so if you want to try it feel free to download it.

I needed ladders to reach that height so fall damage can't be avoid, anyway to reduce the effects i put a little hp pack on the floor, few props like the bridge in the middle should not be solid in order to let the players getting through. I know that some things might look odd but are not that important for me, anyway i'd like to see what is the response of the players to this map. I'll keep trying to update it but consider the fact that this is my first map

First thing I'll say is after having a look at it is the textures look a lot better now. Gives it a warmer and brighter feel.

You will still need to polish it up some more and perhaps make it a little more interesting with some extra areas. Like this needs to be filled in here, it's missing a piece of the floor.

And here I would be tempted to say "Prop overload much?" however this can be fixed if you give these props a little rotation so they look less static. Rotate the cannon so it's not clipping into the wall as well.

But apart from that the rest of the map looks nice, I can always step in and give it the Cream touch if you'd like.

To be fair most of us on VSH aren't picky about how our maps look

Military area is just a box with some shipping containers and some simple grass and wall textures and its a popular map on VSH

As long as the map plays nice that's all the people really care about, looks are just a bonus

I'm not saying don't make it look nice, you just don't need to be overly concerned with how it looks

Had forgotten about military. I always try to make my maps stick to a theme and look as nice as possible. See vsh_urban_works.

speaking of Military, after seeing a report on a player hiding inside a prop, I had the idea of making a map similar to it but with trolling elements such as exploiting the fact that people know which models natively lack collision and having such hiding spots doing random things.

using clips to make them seem solid is easy enough, but suppose on some rounds they'd silently drain the health of anyone hiding in them, or they'd be additional zones for capping the point, or become invisible when someone attempts to hide in them
