I notice today someone had a purple smoke come from their sentry gun. I have been out of the loop on trading and buying as of late. Any idea what it is?

It's a Halloween spell that you can apply to your wrench, I believe.

Sentry Quad-Pumpkins is a tool item. It can be found inside of Haunted Halloween Gifts on Ghost Fort, or from a Pile Of Curses, during Halloween events.

When this spell is applied to any of the Engineer's melee weapons, it gives the Level 3 Sentry Gun's rockets a purple trail and an orange explosion.

Any unused Halloween Spell items are removed at the end of a Halloween event. (From the TF2 Wiki)

Wait, so you mean after the Halloween dates the effect goes away? Or you can't use the spell.

It's a halloween spell. I did think about Amaranthine but since it's on the sentry it's definitely the sentry spell.
OT, new effects are likely to come out during the eotl update.
 
Biggie while we are talking, this is kind of off-topic but how do you get those links that are below your name? (Not the tf2 admin or contributor, but the Steam links)

You mean the links that lead to my steamrep, backpack.tf, ect? Should be when your steam profile is linked to your skial account. Or my forum signature that has a convo that I had with a friend.

Funny thing is right after I asked you it showed up on all my posts. It must've taken a while, as I just created an account. Also, I have a signature but there is a vague line between it and my posts, as the font is just barely different.
