Is Minecraft worth it?

Skial's server is pretty fun for building shit.
Singleplayer is only really fun when you have a lot of mods installed.

I used to find it complete fun back in alpha, But now it seems theres no use :/

I don't find building interesting, so I never played Minecraft, but I watch: Minecraft: The Mole now and would love to do those challanges : )
You can do a lot of other things than build, you just have to find people to play with.
