Turns out my modem is going bad. and shithouse cannot make it out here until tuesday. Until then i won't be on much. Sometimes my internet it perfect. other times, like now, it keeps randomly losing connecting. I tried everything, and shithouse cannot think of a reason. so i will be on when my internet isn't randomly losing connecting.

If you don't have Fios in you area then AT&T is no doubt the best ISP out there. I use it.

150 Mbps on Fios. ME GUSTA.

Man... i miss being on my campus. i got close to a 10Mbs/s dl speed constantly, and on weekends it was near 20-25 Mbs/s. Now that summer break is started, i have to go back to our 3Mbs/s dsl connection. Divide that up among five people and multiplayer gaming is impossible in general! I really wish we could get fios, but they dont provide service to our neighborhood. You guys got problems, i got problems!

Just for comparison:
Verizon FiOS plans and prices (availability is limited):

Familiar offers from Comcast (availability - everywhere, free shows and TV on XFINITY):

Rationale: SERIOUSLY?

You are technically getting much better upload with FiOS in the first case (is it worth the extra 30$, that's up to you), second case not so much.

Oaky, that's true regarding upload. Comcast compresses ergress traffic to fight the torrents. If you need Internet for gaming/browsing - you shouldn't care.
In regards to prices' differences - I think that the fact that Comcast prices are almost $50 less each is significant.
But it's up to personal preferences.

Charter internet
Nice small note "for up to 12 mos when you bundle" :D
I'll be honest though, I know nothing about Charter. Probably, because of that:

When talking about ISP, I consider not only the price, but service availability, service stability and Customer Service/Support. I have been with Comcast for almost 5 years now and have literally never had any outages. Their Customer Service is outstanding and their service is available almost everywhere. I haven't had a chance to deal with Verizon, but I know for sure that AT&T Customer service is fucking nightmare and their service is not stable whatsoever.

I have exactly the same setup.. 3meg and 5 users, everyone of us complains to the other about using up all the bandwidth, arguments ensue. when three of them are watching youtube at the same time it takes me up to 60 seconds to open google homepage.
We pay for up to 20meg, but they tell us the max we can get until our area is upgraded is 3meg, we are still on overhead telephone lines in our area. :(
