Not to mention when bottiger offered people who cheated or claim that a family member/friend/pet cheated a second chance in form of charity donation and apologies the community started shitting on skial saying that anyone can just buy unban. This is going off-topic anyways, the original cheater made an apology and im guessing any further discussion in this appeal will result in locking it. Please do add your 2 cents in the original discussion I made.

Actually don't add anything. It won't be of any value and that thread is pointless.

I want to add that I have slowly over the years moved to the idea that a caught cheater can pay upwards of 60-70 dollars to get unbanned. They're account will always be under more suspicion, a record is kept, and I am very certain dishing out over 50 dollars is no small price to the majority of us. It is a sizable donation to skial tho and if so many people come back years later to apologize and ask for forgiveness, there is a way to pay for it. I'm sure we all know that triple A titles force users to buy new copies of their games when they are perma'd. Perhaps we would compare it to that.

Good idea. But honestly, I cheated and this is my punishment. If I ever make a community server of my own, I will give a second chance to cheaters that apologize. If they screw that, then that's it. But since I have experience with cheating, I might as well tell people about how not worth it it is.

Note that its not supposed to get me unbanned. I just wanted to apologize and the admin forgave me. Thats it. He said that I can still be forgiven so yeah

If you allow people to return via a fee paid it makes a mockery of giving someone a second chance when they can just buy there way out of a situation. There's also the case to be made for those who couldn't afford 50 bucks.
What about if people are given a second chance after a 2 year ban, but upon return to the server they have to wear a tag that says "EX-CHEATER" for a year, like when pedos have to go door to door in some places and tell their new neighbours they are a sexual offender.

They could just pay once a month X amount and when the amount is paid they could get back. Then again the buying unban would cause an uproar in the servers and calling skial a "sellout". Not to mention that when an ex cheater gets bored there's the risk they'll cheat again cuz they don't care anymore.

Sounds like a good idea...as long as there is no 3rd chance and so on.....

ps: pedos should rot in a hole.

again a cheater may get bored and cheat for shits and giggles after granted a 2nd chance so no for now. Yes when there's a way to counter cheaters instead of this joke of a anti cheat system valve has.

Players get older and change. Again, there shoundt be a 3rd chance.. so if they relapse and cheat "for shits and giggles," they would just be perma banned. And with a ex-cheater tag, everyone would pay more attention to their gameplay anyways, making it that much harder to get away with it.

And then mods and admins would be overworked. Sure some players change, others don't. You can't tell the difference of a genuinely changed player and someone who didn't learn the first time on the internet. There's still the risk of people resorting to hacks for various reasons (They are shit so they want to be 1337, ragehacking, counterhacking and hacking for shits and giggles). It would mean that skial community would start shitting on bottiger and skial that people can just buy unban and that servers would see rise in hackers. Giving a 2nd chance to one cheater/hacker means that more people would refer to that appeal and then more appeals would be accepted and people would just hack and say "Soz I care now, unban pl0x"

moderating every player that has the cheater tag?

They woundt have to moderate them. They would be left alone, like everyone else, untill they cheat. No special care needed. ( Besides, I'm sure the other players would keep a special eye on them, like I posted before.)
