Totally Ordinary Human
Is there any indications to an obvious hijack? I was just about to trade with this guy, and he has loads of games. 297 games, all worth $2667 (retail) and has many badges, including a "4 Years of Service" one. But the guy I talked to seem incredibly suspicious.

But when I talked to him, he seemed really rushed and didnt want to go first. Understandable. He had no SourceOP rep and 2 pages of Steam Profile rep, his Tf2outpost account is fairly new with 45 trades and 333 posts.

When I asked for a SteamRep MM, he told me he had no time, and I said that it takes around 5 minutes longer than normal. Of which he said he had to go, and then removed me.

Edit: It's been 15 minutes, and he's still online.

I think the biggest indicator of a hijacked account is them trying to send you to a random website

I could be wrong, but that always gives it away to me.

No, I don't mean like that. I mean, it's pretty obvious you've been hijacked if someone does that, but are there any indications of where someone will hijacked a otherwise trustworthy account and scam others via PayPal, gift-only games, etc.

In all honesty dude, the only reason people get hijacked is because they are retarded and click on stupid links.
The only reason people get scammed is because they are retarded.

If you are not comfortable with the trade, just don't do the trade. it is that simple.

1. Does all the information match up?
2. Are the reps he provided valid?
3. Did you actually take the time to look up his profile and not just the use links he gave you.

There is no way to tell if an account is hijacked. Only valve can actually look up the ip address.

Yeah, I know how scamming and how not to get scammed works. Just incredibly curious after that ordeal. I followed all the steps, other than 2 being that he claimed not to have SourceOP rep, and only has a mere two pages of Steam Profile rep, of which isn't very trustworthy.

It is pretty much impossible to determine if an account is hijacked. At least by us normal people. I think only valve can figure that out.

Unless there is something i don't know about, i am pretty sure it is impossible. Just don't be an idiot, and you don't have to worry about being scammed or hijacked
