After years of training (or like 3 days on Skial), I have now found my inner strength to be the best sniper out there, or...soldier, or...engi, or....whatever because I am GOHAN! I can be anything I want, become more powerful that the most powerful man in the universe, but I like books, so yea, ima be a nerd =]

Well he kinda got his Dad killed during the fight he had with Cell.
Also Goku is 12 when Dragon Ball first begins, and doesn't know jack shit about anything.
