Somewhat Threatening Sniper
Check out our comic we made for our Halloween TF2 item! Tell me what you think!:

And here is the workshop link for the particular item:

Edit: [Workshop link removed, I'm just here to show off the comic]

If you've enjoyed the comic, the team would appreciate passing the comic to other that might enjoy it!

I know this is a shameless promotion, shame on you for that, but it's a quality comic.

not digging the item though.

Well, I mostly just want to show off the comic we worked so hard to make I thought Skial would enjoy it, and I'm glad you enjoyed it

it's 100% ok if you don't like the item, :)If someone likes the item, then that's just a nice bonus.

If it wasn't ok that I didn't like it, what were you planning on doing?

Sorry, I edited the top to clarify, but I just mostly wanted to show off the comic as I thought peeps would enjoy it, I can remove the workshop link np.

Mate, it's ok to advertise this. It's a fantastic comic and a very detailed item. No need to remove anything.

Myself, I would say that the item doesn't quite fit into the style of TF2, a bit too gruesome. But I hope that you guys will get it into the game!

Thanks for clarifying, I'll return the workshop link if enough people are ok with it. I just want to make sure I'm not annoying anyone.

As for the item's style you are right in that it's a bit out there in terms of design, but there's a reason for this:

Since it's a Halloween item, it's going to be restricted to only Full Moons if it gets accepted. The TF2 team actually wants crazier items that don't normally fit TF2 on the workshop for the restricted item. From the tf2 blog:

And because it's restricted to Halloween and Full Moons, get creative! The tonal restrictions we normally ask our Workshoppers to observe with TF2 items don't really apply to a holiday where wizards and bomb books regularly attack from glowing skull islands, so if there's anything crazy you've been itching to make, now's the time.

So we thought since it's going to be restricted, and they want something crazy for Halloween, we'll give 'em crazy!

This was actually really good.

However the workshop item could of used a bit more work, but overall it was good.

Considering we have a severed arm weapon, gibs, and zombie skins, I can't say it wouldn't fit in with what's already been introduced.

Still, good comic. Kinda obvious ending-wise, but it's a good ad for the item.

Thanks! Any form of love is appreciated

You should have seen how it looked with the fully detailed body parts on higher detail!

There's a big limitation with workshop submissions. The compiler will only accepts hats/misc with 1400 triangles/polys. Anything more than that, and you can't even submit the item!So you can't make an item as smooth as you want, especially one with so much details such as ours. I ahve to give props to our modeller Rain* for tackling the challenge.

Weapons have a much more generous amount of triangles at up to 6k tris/polys.

Here's an early model of the item with about 8.5k triangles by Rain* (we had to cut this down to 1.4k!):

Here's a concept art by Hieronymus7z:

As you can see, the original design/model was wayyyyy smoother, supposed to be wayyyyyy bigger, had like 5 body parts, originally with a sculpt of Zephaniah Mann, and took up a ridiculous amount of triangles.

In order for the item to be accepted we needed to decrease the size drastically, remove extras like Zeph Mann face (I cried when we had to, but c'est la vie) and make the original "smooth" design rougher to bring it down to the magical 1400 tri limit.

If it weren't for that limit, you'd be seeing a full Zeph Mann sculpt, with detailed rope design, and more detailed body parts, Hope this was informative :)

Yeah, the original script I wrote actually kept the "surprise" ending more ambiguous so it would be more of a surprise. But I was getting mixed feelings from people who wanted more "foreshadowing"...and while it is a good technique to foreshadow, too much can make things obvious like you pointed out! I'm going to strive to make my writing better. Glad you liked the comic!
